How difficult is the University of Rochester's Early Medical Scholars (REMS) program to get into? Is anyone in it or know someone who is?

so i take it their program isn't very popular?

haha i just looked up their school website, and under www.rochester.edu it just said "h3cked by crackers_child" in the corner, that's it.
i wonder if they know?

^^ what are you talking about?

It's extremely popular, and very difficult to get into.

Really? wow, I didn't know that. Collegeconfidential doesn't even have a separate board for Rochester...I think it should have one.

Yes, it does.

I would put REMS in the same degree of difficulty as HPME.
It's very research oriented. If you have some research exp in addition to stellar stats, that will be a plus.

UR received about 800 apps (I think) for last yr's REMS and take about 10. My son attended the REMS weekend. I think 50 received invitations - UR outdid themselves. UR has a great program and the admissions staff was wonderful. But my son wasn't offered a REMS slot. He was accepted to and is attending PLME (Brown). His REMS interviewer seemed mostly interested in hearing about research experience, which was not his strength whereas other candidates reported not being asked that by their interviewers - so I guess it depends on who interviews you at the med school.

It’s a very popular program and I think everyone should apply! From what I’ve heard, it’s one of the most competitive to get into - rivaling PLME and HPME
