My D went for the Renaissance Scholar finalist visit on March 27-28. We're going crazy waiting to hear something from the U of R. Has anyone else who was a finalist heard from Rochester?

My D interviewed also. She got an email saying results will announced early next week. So sometime before April 11th...

Thanks for letting me know, WayOutWestMom. I feel much better knowing that the email was sent. Maybe my D hasn't checked hers today. The kids did start a Facebook page for Renaissance Finalists, and nothing has been posted on it yet about results. Maybe your D would like to "friend" that group. Best of luck to your D. Where else is she thinking of attending?

D knows about the facebook group. She's mentioned it to me--in fact she mentioned even before she went to Rcohester last week for her interview. As for where else she may go...she has several options plus a major merit scholarship to the state U (full tuition plus a couple hundred $ month in spending money).

As for where she will choose--that decision seems to change daily if not hourly...

That sounds great. My D's most financially feasible offer is also a state school: honors college, tuition + $800/year, about $3,000 additional scholarship, and a guaranteed paid research position for $1,550/year. She will also most likely have a little more than a full year of credit for AP classes, assuming she does OK on the exams in May. Pretty hard to pass up, but if she gets one of the Renaissance scholarships, she wans to be at Rochester. She's also still considering a small LAC that has given her a lot of merit money. Others (Rice and Kenyon) are too expensive to kepp under consideration, even though she got some merit money from Kenyon. She's had a good attitude about it, though. We have three more kids to send through school, and grad school is probable for D, as well.
