Rochester stats...please post some or is there an old thread?

can somebody please help me. I need to know what are some typical stats for Rochester acceptances. Has to be Rd though. thanks.

i don't know about earlier threads, but u could always check on collegboard. they'll give you an SAT range. u could also check anything else that ranks schools, they usually have some kind of information about the school and admissions. princetonreview will even tell u the average GPA, but i think u need to be a member.

Here's some stats from Princetonreview:

yyyiiikkkess..does anyone know how much the interview counts? beacuse they interviewed me and said that if it were based off that, then i would be admited...

are there any REAL stats and not stats from the princetonreview or the collegeboard....they're somewhat "untrustworthy" for they're old and obsolete.

Courtney1121's info is accurate from the common data set provided by Uof R. This is the identical info also used by US News.

I believe the stats are for the class of 2008.

I wonder why the U of R web site doesn't seem to have a class profile, or any of these stats available? Most schools do.

my friend got in ED with a 1200 and a 3.6 gpa, and one or two ecs. I believe it should be similar for RD.

when i visited the U of R, they told me roughly the same stats. though not to the same precision.

as for the interview, i think it's more imortant that at other schools, and even more important for scholarships. it might make/break ur decision, but it won't get u in alone. or deny an amazing applicant

Here is a link for the stats from last year's RD: <a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/archive/index.php/t-47399.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/archive/index.php/t-47399.html</a></p>

yikes...u of r is my number one...and im afraid im not gettin in...uhhh ohh..

holy god. the 1460 student with no visible fault that got waitlisted is making me very worried. i don't have stats that are much better and i don't have EC anywhere near that. that does not bode well! not cool.

this is why i need to stop reading past rejections/acceptances.

I emailed U of R to ask for their class profile, and they didn't really give it (I've done this before and always gotten it), but here's what she sent (sounds like it was lifted off the web site):

There are no minimum requirements for admission to the University of Rochester. Each student's application is evaluated through a committee process that entails a comprehensive evaluation of each candidate. For the fall of 2005, the typical Rochester student ranks in the top 10-20% of their high school class, has taken 2 - 7 AP or IB courses, and has maintained a median academic unweighted GPA of 3.8. On standardized tests, the middle half of the class submitted an SAT score in the range of 1900 - 2200 or an ACT score between 27-32.

These are only the bare numbers to describe a University of Rochester student. We also value unquantifiable strengths such as initiative, creativity, enthusiasm and leadership, and we're also careful to ensure our student body of fewer than 1,000 new students represents the full spectrum of world and US hometowns, ideas and experiences.

Their middle 50% is 1900-2200??? That's preeeetty high.

I bet that's comparable to some Ivy Leagues.

admissions at rochester isn't as tough as some people make it out to be. The 'average' student probably wont be admitted, but it seems like any above average student with a strong desire has a shot. I know 5 or 6 people currently at Rochester. Two of them were brilliant, the rest were smart but nothing spectacular. Both the valedictorian and saluditorian of my graduating class ended up at rochester (financial reasons, both got big scholarships). Those who got in from my school were in at least the top 20-25% of the class with a 1200+ SAT. Rochester looses many of its accepted students to other schools, so applying ED will give any applicant a boost (as will showing a true desire to attend the school).

wrxstiav, i thought the exact same thing..... :(

my sats are 2060.... not quite as high as a 2200...

booo... my math score is the high end of the mid 50s and my verbal is 40 pts higher, but the problem is that i'm asian.

im glad that i left the ethnicity box blank on all my applications, except colgate + bates (asians are true URMs there)

damnn, they deleted my posts on here, but i got in ed2 too with 1230/1810, 4.1w, 16/309...
