so i'm pretty sure which i'm going to choose but i just want to get someone else's opinion. i want to major in biochemistry and eventually go to medical school. i received a full scholarship (tuition, room/board, even books) at the university at buffalo (suny school). there i would also be in the honors program which has a lot of benefits. i've also been accepted at rochester for biochem, but here i would have to pay about 15K each year plus 5500 in loans each year...ammounting in about 80K after 4 years. while rochester definitely has the better program, i feel i could probably excel better at buffalo and it would be a tad easier than rochester which would look better for med school (better GPA). so...which one??

Buffalo. You need to save your money for med school.

Even though I love U of R… Buffalo is the smarter choice because you need to save up for medical school.

First, to dispel a wrong assumption. Buffalo may be a public university, but it is not “a tad” easier. You will be taking the same science courses which will be of equal difficulty. Unless kids dumber than UR kids (and I doubt this) are taking the Biochem courses there, you will have to work just as hard.

Second, 80K is a lattta dough. You need to save that dough for medschool. So, unless you get more $ out of UR, Buffalo is a wiser choice, in my opinion.
