Rockefeller

Hey, just got my e-mail, will be in Buyers at Rockefeller. Anyone else at Rockefeller yet? Also, what is the reputation of Rockefeller/Buyers? Anyone know?

Im in Buyers at Rockefeller as well!
Buyers 17, to be precise.
How about you?

Buyers B12. Nice to meet you, hallmate.

You guys will have awesome RCAs.

oh my god qwertulen we are roommates.

mzhang23 can you tell us more about buyers hall/rocky college in general? How far is it from the engineering quad? thank you.

Wow roommates on CC. That's pretty crazy.

"Wow roommates on CC. That's pretty crazy."
Yeah!

Nice to meet you, Qwertulen.

Buyers hall is the subfree dorm of Rocky. You guys are pretty far from the Equad, so get a bike. It's about a minute's walk away from Holder (the main Rocky dorm).

Buyers is basically a wing of Blair hall. Expect to hear a lot of a cappella if you live near the arch. It's gothic style but renovated on the inside. Overall a very good place to live.

71 Holder Hall for me!

Holy...crap, albert. Nice to meet you too.

43 holder hall

Mitchhhs, looks like you're my next door neighbor :) (My three quadmates and I are in 44.) I'm always happy to help froshlings out. Looking forward to getting to know you!

Mitchhhs, let me be the second person to welcome you to our little corner of Holder :) (I'm one of frozen-tears's roomies)

anyone in Witherspoon?

Frozen-tears and I were in Spoon last year, so while we will not be your neighbors, we can answer any questions you have. (That goes for all you non-Spooners too! Rocky pride!)

well in that case, what did you think of it, overall? it seems like i've heard only good things so far, but you never know, right? haha.

Spoon is awesome. The rooms are big and beautiful, and the views are to die for (especially looking out over Alexander Beach!).

The only downside I can think of is the noise level (although I guess that's the case with almost every building). People outside on the Beach and stairs can get pretty loud (or maybe it's just echoing extra loudly off the stone walls?), and the walls and floors aren't great at blocking sound, either. But that's just part of the joy of dorm life anywhere, I suppose!

By the way, what floor are you on, BallPlayer?

Hehe if you're on the side facing Alexander Beach, and you're higher up in the building, smoke will fly into your window whenever there's a bbq on the lawn. :)

'Spoon also has the peculiarity of many fire alarms going off in the middle of the night (related only in part to the fact that it has the only full kitchen in Rocky, which I will be using relatively often next year). Be smart and don't stand around outside on the steps shivering in your PJs and slippers like everyone else. Just hang out in Buyers until it's over.

Oh yeah...I forgot about those good ol' 3-in-the-morning fire alarms. Definitely go to Buyers. Especially when it's cold. And raining.
Hopefully all you people in Spoon this year won't be as fire-prone as we apparently were...

On a related note, it's a very good idea to keep your window shut whenever there's a cookout on the Beach. Or your room will be filled with thick, charcoal-y, hamburger-y smoke.
