I heard that they have a good art program and good connections for transfer to parsons, pratt, etc. Can anyone verify this?

It's evidently a reputable community college as I know a member here on CC (northrams) transferred to Yale from there a year or two ago. Quite a feat.

RCC is very good as far as Community Colleges are concerned. The Art program is especially strong, and with good grades and recommendations, you could surely swing a transfer to Purchase, and maybe Pratt and the others you mention. Page Simon and Kaari Rafoos (sp?) are top notch professors, as I'm sure many others there are.

Generally, Community Colleges can be an excellent opportunity for SERIOUS career oriented students, who for whatever reasons, can't or choose not to go immediately to 4year schools, and can manage to not be brought down by the prevailing "13th Grade" mentality of the masses.
