Help! My S selected a school out-of-state for his freshman year and now wants to transfer back to CA. Most universities require at least two years before they will accept a transfer student. After all his hard work, is his only choice a JC for next year? The UC's here do give priority from the JC's, any body in the same boat?

Kind of similar situation here. I think that if your son wants to get into most UC campuses, then his best bet to transfer is a year at community college. It might depend on his choice of major and his GPA -- my son's GPA wasn't great and he tried to get into an impacted major at UCSC with a transfer application, so that might have been a factor against him. If your son would be willing to consider UC Merced, they might be more open to transfers. My son ended up at a CSU.

I think it's only state schools that require the 2 years. Any of the privates take soph transfers, but I don't know the deadlines.
