I am able to book a room at the Rodeway Inn in T-town for the night of the LSU game. Price is $230 total - not horrific, but some of the reviews are. Has anyone actually stayed there before? CC search shows just one thread and that mostly talks about another not so great hotel.

Our plans right now are to stay with friends that are 40 minutes away. Do we opt for the free, big, beautiful home and a 40 minute drive there late at night night plus back to T-town in the morning or do we opt to pay for what may be a less than stellar night’s stay but very convenient?

i think i would stay with the friends. google rodeway tuscaloosa reviews to take a peek at some reviews.

we stay at best western as one of our regulars and it isn’t the most up to date place but it works out just fine.

I did Google. I saw old reviews that mentioned pubic hairs, more recent reviews that talk about rocking toilets but also some that say it’s o.k.

I am leaning towards the friends, too, even though I would bring my own pillow and blanket. I had just hoped someone here would say, based on personal experience, that it was less than awful.

idk, it is up to you. i am sure the rodeway won’t kill you. how prissy are you?

If anyone needs a room for one night on 11/9, there’s one open at the Rodeway Inn in Tuscaloosa. :)

Apparently higher on the prissy scale. I think I would have braved it had it not been a smoking room. That was the killer.

Hey, how did this wind up before Mike’s post?

Class2012Mom isn’t prissy but she just might be picky. I know I am when it comes to hotels. I’d rather drive 40 minutes than stay at a dirty, run-down motel. I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not a renaissance woman. Having said that, I have no knowledge of the Rodeway Inn.

Hey, if I want to stay someplace disgusting with hairs in the bathroom, I know a dorm room I could crash in. For free.

haha weird that your post answering me appeared before mine!

yeah, i would rather stay with friends than stay in a crappy overpriced room.

Friends! After we dropped second son off at Bama husband and I decided to do something different and stayed at a casino hotel in Mississippi on the way back to Texas since we had no kids with us. the disgusting hotel is now a big joke. I must be prissy. We stayed in Bessemer for the Ole Miss game, and 30 minutes was really no big deal.

Well, someone out there is less prissy than me, because the room was snapped up shortly after I cancelled it. Fess up, Slippy, we know it was you. :)

I would not mind the horrific hotel for a night IF you were paying horrific hotel prices!!
Stay with friends. It’s diffidently worth the drive.
We had no problem driving back in forth for parents weekend to stay in a clean hotel for less.
Have fun.

FRIENDS!!!

Yes, call me prissy. Sadly, call DH more prissy than I am, HAHAHA! As long as he is willing to cough up the $ to stay at the prissyfied places, I’m in.

Drive by when there and see how many LA plates are in the parking lot, heehee

that place will probably smell like CORNDOGS instead of its usual moldy smell!

:)

There are a few yucky motels in Ttown and Rodeway is one of them. It doesnt seem to stop those places from charging high rates during peak times.

Avoid:

Quality Inn
Masters Inn
Rodeway Inn
Motel 6

There may be a couple of others, but those I know for sure to avoid. The problem is that those places have become targets for rather vagrant people. People who don’t have apts or homes, so they rent by the day/week at those places.

You can add the Howard Johnson’s to the list of places to avoid, too. We just stayed there last week and it was disgusting!

^^^

Nearly all of the motels that are in that exact area…Skyland at McFarland are questionable except for the Country Inn Suites.

That area needs a big ole rehab.

We like the Graystone Inn near the Mercedes factory in Vance. It isn’t in T-town & doesn’t have a pool. Similar to a Hampton Inn.

the super8 is kind of sketchy too
