I just got my notification today! From what I've seen on the boards, the e-mail is pretty similar to the one sent to Echols recipients. I'm pumped! Has anyone else gotten theirs yet? And who's going to Days on the Lawn on the 4th?

I too received an email notice about my invitation to the Rodman Scholars program today. A nice surprise, especially since I applied to UVA's SEAS without any knowledge of the scholars programs.

In the email, there are links to Main Page - Rodman Scholars Program for more info and U.Va. Office of Admission > Admission Information > Days on the Lawn for info on the lawn days. From what I've read about the Rodman/Echols Scholars programs and the day on the lawn for those individuals, there isn't much of a difference between that DOTL and later ones. However, there will be a higher number of scholars present and according to Dean J there will be faculty members teaching seminars (even though it's a saturday).

Congratulations to A and S !! You people are just waaaaaaayyyyyyy out there.

there is no merit aid given out to Rodman Scholars just Jefferson Scholars right?

As far as I know that would be correct. But I dug up an old post on the UVa blog (from 2007) where there was mention of a Rodman Scholarship - "six full-tuition awards and seven half-tuition awards" - which I had never heard of before. Dean J to the rescue?

amandar and shirker, i am a junior in high school looking at uva engineering. im in state and would really love to be a rodman scholar.... would you two mind posting your stats/credentials? or PM me?

The engineering school does have some scholarship money that they award based on merit.

Dean J, if you don't mind my asking, when are students notified if they are eligible (or not) for that aid?

anyone else hear?

well...I received the half-tuition aid, and I am an International Student.
I am totally thilled at the unexpected good news!

You won't hear about the engineering school's financial aid until you're attending UVa -- there are several grants you can apply for after you enroll, but you won't be awarded any merit-based aid (except as a Jefferson scholar) before entering the University.

I'm a first-year Rodman, so if you guys want to ask me any questions, go for it. I'll keep checking this thread. I love the program :)

Sigma, I wanted to know, how easy is it to get into the Rodman Scholars program? I wasn’t admitted into it during normal admissions but I want to apply during my 1st year, so when exactly would I do that? And what should my average GPA be

@madara, check out the Rodman site:
