Rodman

I was wondering if any of the people who have received likely letters or calls or any early indication of the Echols/Rodman programs are those who would be from Rodman (Engineering) rather than Echols. From what I've noticed it seems like it's only been Echols thus far, but has Rodman started notifying people?

Dean J:

My son is waiting for that too. He got a likely letter but did not have any news about rodman program. He said if he get in the program he would join UVA. So, when will you anounce the finalist for the program?

I'm in the same boat as your son you house80. I got a likely but no call for Rodman. I'm sure they have finished making selections for Rodman but I don't know how many they have called. He said they try to call people but they don't always call everyone so we are just gonna have to wait and see what if we get letters. I'm not sure when they come out though, I am sure he can help.

Check out the notification update on my blog.

from Dean J's blog:
"Rodman (well, the Dean of the engineering school) will also be notifying Rodman Scholarship winners. The Dean selects these students from the Rodman Scholars. There are six full-tuition awards and seven half-tuition awards. Good luck and congratulations to those who will be receiving a call!"

I had never heard of these scholarships for Rodman, I thought there was no money awarded. Is this new? What is the criteria? Need based?

:'(...

no email for me... I really thought I had a shot too...

wow, I guess a likely letter doesn't mean much after all

I was really hoping for this too... one of my stongest pushes towards UVa...

don't lose hope, it never said when there'd be e-mails, and as far as we can tell, no one on CC has said they got theirs yet...

(this is more self-reassurance than anything :) )

To be honest, I don't know much about this, either. I got an email about it and thought I'd pass it along.

I knew that SEAS and a few other departments had some scholarship money, but I didn't know how they awarded it.

Well, from the blog:

* Update: Realizing that they were a few days behind the Echols program in mailing, Rodman has decided to go with speed over ceremony and in addition to mailing their letters, they are emailing them today. *

it's already almost 6, so unless the office has weird hours or they are working overtime to get the emails out then...

Well, I'm keeping my fingers crossed, constantly checking my e-mail, and holding my breath anytime the phone rings.
My logic is if ANYBODY would get Rodman/Echols, it'd be the kids on CC, am I right??

I'm not sure. My sense is that there are relatively few high school seniors on this board.

Facebook might have more information than CC. There are hundreds of students on there compared to maybe a dozen here.

My impression was simply the people who obsess on here tend to be above averages students who are compulsive about school and stuff, you know the type, so I'm keeping my hopes up until I see someone on here say they got the e-mail!

Trust me, i understand your logic live4football, but at this point I just dont know.

Not one person on here got the Engineering Dean' scholarship at Virginia Tech

Yea I know, I'm losing hope....it bites

Much to my surprise, the pone just rang an odd ringer and "unknown" appeared on the front, I answer the phone and what do you know, its a 3rd year BME from the E school at UVa saying that she had a list of all of the "top applicants" and was calling each of them to ask if they had any questions! :-)!

She gave me the impression that she had been at it all night calling people off of a list of the strongest applicants to the E school and it didn't sound like she would be done anytime soon.

Unfortunately, she said she doesn't know anything about who has and hasn't been admitted to Rodman, but that she is a Rodman, so this is a good sign.

Don't give up hope yet!

:) :) :)

(10)

whoot, renewed hope!

My son just get an email to notice that he was accepted by Rodman program. We all are very happy on that.

ohhh man... that is an email that I have not gotten.

I will now be stalking my inbox for the next hour

...hope gone
