Rodman

housie, what time was the email sent?

...maaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

first i thought likely=Echols/Rodman, then I though phone call=echols/rodman, and now i am confused....

edit
Man, it just seems wrong that they would call me and not send me an invite to Rodman... its just counterintuitive... or mean. I was so excited after that phonecall. wow

I was hopeing for something a little more specific like around 8:00, in which case I might still have hope, or arround 6:00, where I might as well just give up

ehiunno

The email includes a congratelation letter and an invitation to join Scholars Day on the Lawn on April 16.

Sorry, It's 21:02 whcih may be the unupdated summer time.

Dean J,

An engineering faculty member told me that the new mid-year Rodman class announced a few months ago was almost, if not all, 100% female. That person said that it appeared that Rodman was being used as a tool to keep women from switching to other majors. What is the composition of the fall 2007 potential class?

The "mid-year Rodman class"? Do you mean students invited into Rodman after the first year? As far as I know, new Rodman students aren't taken at mid-year.

Anyway, gender didn't come into play when we selected Rodman Scholars.

They are. You can apply for Rodman after the first semester. See http://www.seas.virginia.edu/rodman/Mid-Year_Applicants.htm

I had the impression that the mid-years are selected by the SEAS admin. Are there perhaps different committees, one for new students and one for mid-years?

Dean J,

I am kind of confused. I was under the impression that a call meant that you got Echols or Rodman, did I misread your posts?

The Office of Admission selects Rodman Scholars, then sends the names on to SEAS. The program from that point is run entirely by SEAS.

Ehuinno, there are multiple students groups that make calls at this time of year. A few weeks ago, it was Echols students, but Rodman and The Virginia Society also makes calls to answer questions for prospective students. The students should identify themselves when they call.

Dean J,

The person that called identified herself as a Rodman scholar but said that she didn't know the official results.

Yes, the emails have been sent. If you did not get one, I would encourage you to make sure to do well your first semester and apply through our Mid-Year App. All first year E-School students will receive an email when the app becomes available.

Wow, gave up hope, then I got the Rodman e-mail this morning!! I am pumped, I can relay more later, gotta go celebrate now!!

come on footballl, I thought we were in this together! lol

I've still gotten jack squat, but I guess that means theres still a shot

Hey Everyone - I just came across this site and it reminded me of last year; all of the college stress and things of the sort that make senior year pretty tough.

Anyways. To my point.

Even if you don't get into the Rodman program now, there is an application for midyear students. I didn't know about the Rodman program until after I got accepted. I applied during the mid-year application, and honestly, if I can get in, there is no reason none of you guys can't.

So good luck with your college acceptances and honestly, don't stress. Things will work out if you let them work out.

still nothing... a friend in my lin alg class got the letter, so it looks like all hope is lost...

wow
