I was checking out the application for IBW (few years down the road, I know) but I recently applied to Kelley and my ACT is a mere 30. I know I will be a direct admit to Kelley, but I was wondering if anyone knew whether or not ACT's were stressed in decisions for the workshop? Thanks

When my son talked to David Haeberle (about a year ago), the things that were being stressed for the IBW (Investment Banking Workshop) were: (1) good grades, especially in particular courses such as accounting, computer in business, public speaking, and calculus; and (2) being active in school activities and public service, such as other clubs, sports, intramural sports, or community service.

It seems that they are looking for people who are (1) smart, and (2) active and outgoing. I think the test scores were probably the least of their concerns.

Another thing--while most of the people chosen for IBW naturally come out of the business honors program, David Haeberle indicated that they were looking for those who may have just missed out on getting into the honors programs, but who showed by their work at IU-B that they were worthy of being in the IBW program anyway.

P.S. My son decided not to pursue the IBW program and has switched his major to Business--Legal Studies instead of Business--Finance.

I was looking up the requirements for the Business Honors Program and it said you need to be in Hutton to complete some of them. How selective is Hutton?

I don't believe that is correct. I believe there are two types of honors you can get at graduation--departmental (in your case, business) honors, and general honors (which is what you get if you meet Hutton's criteria). I didn't think you had to take any Hutton courses to get departmental honors (and even if you did, you only have to be in one of the two types of honors programs to qualify to take an honors course).

Right now it requires a 3.7 GPA during your first year to get into Hutton Honors College--although you can also get in directly from high school in certain cases. I believe you have to keep a 3.4 or 3.5 GPA throughout college to stay in the program.
