Mine was way lower than you guys (weird one-upping) lol probably coz the major wasn’t impacted, personal statement and other factors
i got in UCSC, UCD and UCLA so far and got waitlisted on UCSD. If i do get into Cal that would be good to know but I’ll choose LA just for personal preference :p

oh ■■■■ dude congrats on UCLA!

OK I HAD NO IDEA YOU CAN’T CUSS ON HERE hahaha

Not to sound like a party pooper, but do you guys have any doubts about attending a top tier school like UCB with such a low GPA?

That’s partially the reason I never even bothered applying to UCB. I’d probably get owned on my first day when I realize everyone is ivy league caliber and I’m still writing at a middle school level.

@BurntCorpse Honestly, I think most people will be able to adjust and do okay. From what I understand, however, UCB Philosophy is actually quite a difficult program, and the average GPA for students there trends in the lower 3’s. I’m not personally worried because I’ve taken pretty much every philosophy course on my campus, and my entering GPA is close to a 4.0, but I can understand the apprehension.

I wish I had your positivity. Each day I’m just thinking about how in a few months I’ll be going up against the top high school and transfer kids in the nation.

Don’t be surprised if you hear about some psychotic transfer kid crying his eyes out, stripping off his clothes, and screaming in arabic and swahili in front of Royce Hall on the first day of instruction.

eh not really. the only reason my gpa was low is because i lost my focus for one semester but except for that i’ve had straight As. you just have to keep your focus and study your ass off! Besides, a 3.6 is not a necessarily “low GPA” haha. it’s no 4.0 and but it’s not a 3.2 either and you should still be considered a good student. Start believing in yourself a little more! it’s never too late to start doing better in school! Those kind of environments can actually help you do better because of the competitiveness.

@BurntCorpse If that ends up being the case, try to tell me beforehand so I have some time to find ways to capitalize off of your breakdown.

Maybe I’ll make tshirts.

Do any of you guys know how much higher the avg GPA of admitted students is for Berkeley in comparison to UCLA? Because people either say Berkeley’s is way higher or that they are fairly comparable.

@BurntCorpse

You’ll be just fine. Statistically speaking, transfer students do just fine in comparison to their straight-out-of-high-school counterparts.

@camillea123

Average admitted GPA for UCLA applicants last year was 3.72. Berkeley’s was 3.77.

ehhhh so it is pretty comparable. thanks :))!
