Is it to a students advantage to apply very early (as in September) when a school has a rolling admission? My daughter has about a weighted 3.4 GPA with an ACT of 21 (17 on reading).

Will schools accept students more easily the earlier they apply? I'm not sure what is the benefit to a student if a school has rolling admission.

Hmmm… I heard mix reviews

With rolling admission, it is better to apply earlier so that you are in line for any goodies that the place has to offer including scholarships specific to your major, financial aid packages with more grants and fewer loans, better housing options, etc., etc.

Also having that first acceptance letter pinned to your bulletin board will make you feel more confident as you continue through the process. You will indeed have a place to go no matter what else happens!

My concern is that my daughter is not a definite for acceptance because her grades are higher than required, but her ACT is borderline/low. I wonder if getting the application in early will help or hurt her. Will the admissions folks see that she really wants Towson and look upon her favorably by applying early, or will they want to wait and see what better (higher ACT) applicants apply?

If you are in Maryland, I’d expect that your HS guidance office should know about this one. Why don’t you ask them about it?

Since Towson has rolling admissions, has anyone heard yet? Anyone from previous years know when they heard?
Thanks.
Cheryl

hi were from oos and my daughter applied on October 13 and just received her acceptance letter on November 25. However, she has a friend that applied before her and has not yet received a reply. Also, my daughter never received a letter confirming that her application was received.
