rolling admission vs. early action?

ah, i'm super confused. i'm sure this question has been asked numerous times, but i need help - and fast!

i'm hoping to complete my application within the next few days and submit it before september ends. however, i'm unsure as to whether i apply rolling admission or early action?

i know that early action guarantees a decision by dec. 23rd, but i was hoping i could do rolling and find out by the end of october/early november? is that possible?

my brother turned in his app end of august and found out end of september (or somewhere around there)

BUT a u of m rep came to my school today and urged me to apply early action .. but why? there wasn't much time left so i couldn't ask him, but is it easier to get in that way?

i would assume rolling is easier..

buuut i don't want to apply right now and then wait until like APRIL. ahh idk

ALSO should i include a resume? the rep said it wasn't necessary because people normally just repeat what they already put on the common app. opinions?

A few years ago, people found out at the end of october. Now, you have to wait until December.

You’re a little confused as to how this works. Michigan has rolling admissions, which means they will release decisions periodically, typically every week on a Thursday, instead of having all the decisions released on one specific date, like UNC-CH, which releases all decisions on 4/15. Early Action means that if you apply before the EA deadline, you will for sure get a decision by December 23 but could at any time before then. He urged you to apply early action to ensure that your application will get looked at fully. Apply early because usually the worst that can happen is you get deferred and have to give Michigan your second semester grades. Only super horrible people that have no shot get straight up rejected. It’s pretty much all positives to apply early.
