Rolling Admission vs Early Admission

Hi, I was just told by our high school counselor that Rolling admission applicants would not be assigned a campus when accepted, they will be lumped with the accepted students from RD for campus assignment. Since we already applied for Rolling, she strongly advised my D to contact admission and change her application to Early Admission. Has this been done before? I couldn’t find any other source on the internet. Thanks!

Yes she absolutely can and should. There’s still time but not much -she has till Nov 1. If everything in by Nov 1 then EA is much better since she will hear by Dec 24 v. Rolling which means last picks.

Thanks! That’s very encouraging. I will ask my D to call the admission right away.

Ditto what MYOS said. With Penn State using the common app it gets very confusing, because their “rolling” admissions is not the same as other schools. At Penn State, the EA decisions are first (apply by Nov 1, hear by Dec 24th), then Priority (apply by Nov 30, hear by Jan 31st) and THEN rolling admissions which are decided after EA and Priority and get whatever’s left, if they get in at all (because spots are filled). Even if your application is in by those deadlines, it only matters which box was checked on the application.

Definitely have your daughter call and ask to change her application to EA since she has her application in already. Her odds increase dramatically compared to Rolling.

Thanks for the clarification! My D had practice at school this afternoon, didn’t get a chance to call admission until after 4:30. She will try again on Monday. We did send an email to admissions, not sure how often they check that inbox though.
