Rolling Admission: When will I hear back?

Houstonr: I completed my application on October 31st, and probably had everything sent in by November 2nd. Good luck!

@springisintheair 3.3 GPA 1660 SAT good recs worked at a hospital over the summer National Volunteer awards since Freshman year. I wrote an additional essay and mailed it to QU showing my deep interest in the school. A total of 40 kids have applied to QU from my high school so far with many if not all having better stats than I do. I applied in August and completed my file around mid October. Good luck! let me know if you would like more info.

I thought Quinnipiac only offered applications for ED before February 1st when its rolling? Are you able to be considered before Feb 1st then?

Is the health science major a general overall major, or do can you choose a specialty like nursing, p/t, o/t, etc. once you are at Quinnipiac? If not, what does the health science major entail - and what type of jobs would you be able to get with a health science major if not concentrated on a specific field? Thanks!

If you look at the website for the School of Health Sciences it describes in some detail what career pursuits are available for Health Sciences majors. It does appear to be for the most part a preparatory major for students who wish to ultimately pursue various adjunct medical careers with various graduate degrees in these areas. The School of Nursing appears to be separate from the School of Health Sciences. On it’s website it denotes that students may apply for transfer to Nursing on a space available basis. You would need to check with the Nursing School to see if they would be willing to provide you with the average number of transfer students they generally accept. Most direct entry Nursing Programs tend to have relatively few transfer slots available due to the low drop-out rate for the Nursing major. Competition for the few available slots at most schools is therefore generally quite intense due to the popularity of this major. Unfortunatly many schools will tell applicants it is possible to transfer into Nursing but they often don’t tell them the odds. I would be very suspicious of schools that won’t at least give an applicant some idea of what the odds might be. Unless they take a large number of transfers it is certainly quite risky to start in another major with the hopeful intent of transferring into Nursing. Best of luck to you.

Mwallenmd…you are so kind and insightful. I took your advice on UD…hoping for direct acceptance into nursing at UD - it’s a perfect fit and nursing is my true passion, dream…I just received an A in both college level courses this semester - will be forwarding to UD…THANK YOU for taking the time to try to assist.
