I'm applying RD for ILR, can someone tell me if Cornell has rolling admission or if they notify all applicants at once?

There is one set day when all the Ivy Leagues notify applicants for RD; however, Cornell does let students from some colleges know before that date. I believe a lot of Hotel students receive decisions before then, but I’m not sure about ILR.

IIRC, I don’t know that notifications started as early as Feb—perhaps early March for SHA & ILR? I believe they also use likely letters in other schools, but they seem to be used for targeted groups (women in Engineering, perhaps?)

On a common date, usually in late March or early April, applicants to the Ivy institutions will be notified of admission decisions and financial aid awards, unless they have been notified earlier under Early Decision Plan or Early Action Plan procedures. (Letters are mailed beginning in February for the Schools of Hotel Administration, and Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell, and beginning in February for the School of Nursing at Penn.)

… also, for Cornell (and the Ivies), a very limited number of students receive “Likely Letters” a few weeks before the official admit date. The letter says that when the decisions come out, it is “Likely” that you will be admitted. It’s generally accepted that this means that you’re in unless you screw up.

A few years ago, the rumor was that the letter was limited to URMs in certain colleges and female Engineering students. But the vast majority of students in those categories were admitted through the normal process).

Some student atheletes are also admitted (or receive Likely letters) early.
