rolling admission

CA Sunshine - Millbrook: has a zoo. Very small school. Girls receive TIffany's pendant at graduation, and boys receive a school tie.

From the little I've learned, some schools will have openings now. After the middle of April, more schools will have a limited number of openings. They will try to fill in ways that will balance the incoming class. For example, the students who accepted admissions might weigh more heavily on boys, so a school might be eager to find qualified girls. They might need to fill specific spots on a sports team or still be seeking someone to round out an orchestra. Perhaps their international students are below their historic percent. It is hard to know what they seek.

If you are looking for financial aid, this is difficult after the March 10th acceptances, especially for schools without large endowments. The school might let you know if you have any chance. I imagine, but don't know this for certain, that the earlier you apply the better. Some financial aid money may be available after April 10th contracts. I'm also guessing that an applicant who can make a significant contribution to a school will be given consideration. In the case of the op and chaos, they applied to the most competitive schools, so they must have outstanding ssats, gpa's ec's, etc. I know this is true for chaos.

Last summer there was an international applicant on this board trying to select from among Blair, Loomis and Mercersburg. That is why I thought that they might have some openings this year. They were not listed as having openings on the ssat website.

Anyway, applying now is hard work but can still be done. I imagine that financial aid is even harder at this point in time.
