Rolling Admissions Deadlines

Just a quick question that I could research, but thought this method would be more 'time-friendly' and--therefore--most helpful!!....
Do most of the more selective publics with rolling admissions have a Dec. 1 deadline? I'm thinking along the lines of UMich, Penn State, Wisconsin...Are there others that I'm not thinking of??

I don't know if Purdue fits your criteria, but they do have rolling admissions, and they do not have a Dec. 1 deadline. Last year there were still students on CC reporting submitting their materials in Dec. sometime, unless the program they were applying to was already closed. Effectively, though, the earlier the submission, the more likely the acceptance is. Makes sense with rolling admissions.

In the past, MIchigan's was in February, I believe.

Nov. 30 for PSU.

^Thats for honors college.

It is recomended you get these apps in by November 1 to have the best shot at getting in and getting scholarships. Mich says to get the app in by November 1 to have the best chance (as said by the adcom on her visit to my school). PSU probably recomentds November 30, but you can get in if you apply by mid December. I dont know about Wisconsin, but it cannot be too different. Get rolling apps in ASAP. I have a freind who sent in Mich in late December and was rejected, yet got into WashU and CMU (both are harder to get into than Mich). You can send in your rolling apps very late if you are a shoe in at these colleges, but there will be no merit money left. If merit scholarsihps are your concern, I think you should have had these apps out by now.

Panhandlegal - No, Dec. 1 is not the typical application deadline for rolling admissions schools. Jan. 1 or Feb. 1 would be much more common.

But, as was pointed out (sort of), this only applies to the bitter end deadline, i.e., the very last date to apply. If you want to get scholarships, there may be an earlier deadline for that, and if you want to get an edge in admissions by being early, apply RIGHT NOW.

Nov 30 is also the date fo regular admission at PSU--

"November 30 is our recommended application date. Having all materials to us by that date gives you the best chance at gaining admission to Penn State.

If you apply by November 30, you can expect to receive a decision by January 31. Accordingly, students who apply after November 30 should expect a later decision."

Univ. of Illinois says Nov. 15 is recommended for more in-demand schools, eg engineering. Univ of MI wants them by Nov 15 for merit scholarships (that is what the web site now says). Purdue has already sent out many merit scholarship offers; I wouldn't wait around for the final deadline.

The University of Maryland has a Dec. 1 deadline for priority admissions, which is for anyone interested in special programs, like honors.

I would get all the apps in as soon as possible, even for regular admissions. You don't gain anything by waiting, and you could lose out on financial aid and merit offers.

Wisconsin is Feb 1st, but as many are posting, with rolling admissions the sooner the better- it's a "first come, first served" style. With these schools you generally can easily decline the offer by a certain date next spring (after the other colleges have made their decisions), even getting back your deposit. Don't count on getting in at the last minute just because you know someone with lesser credentials who was accepted earlier- they may have taken the spot you would have had. BTW remember to get all the materials from school in, also.
