Rolling Admissions/Early Notification

Maybe I am not looking in the right area but is there a list of the schools that make decisions after the fall auditions? Realizing all the craziness that will be going on next year for my D, she would love to try and get some early auditions in that she doesn't have to wait until March to hear about.

There isn’t a specific list posted anywhere all together. People might have some suggestions, but honestly you have to check with each school individually. They change their processes from time to time and although one year they do it one way, the next they might do it differently. That happened to us this year. We chose a particular school specifically because they had always notified in the fall but they changed their process this year and didn’t notify until March, no matter when you auditioned.

But I’ll get you started with this:
Coastal Carolina has a November audition and they have traditionally notified by early December. (But be aware, although they do accept a few and release a bunch more, you COULD be notified that you’re “still in consideration” and won’t know until March!)

Oklahoma City University has rolling admissions.

Emerson has early action with a November or December audition date that nets a decision by mid-December. I’m sure there are other early action schools as well.

This is a great list to start - Point Park and University of the Arts have rolling admissions.

This is a good discussion for those that follow. I think I’ve posted elsewhere that my son’s early acceptance (OCU in early Dec.) really made the rest of his auditions less stressful, gave him more confidence and provided me with a sense that maybe he was headed into the right direction, despite our doubts.
Of course it could have gone the other way as well - with an early rejection. In fact we got one of those as well with a pre-screen DVD sent in September (OU) that ended a few weeks later with a “No.” But that served as a wake-up call and my son changed much of his audition material as a result.
So getting right at it is good either way you look at it.
If you go back to the Acceptance thread…here is how it looked at the end of December…so these schools might be a good place to start:

Texas State (MT)
Coastal Carolina University (MT), Ohio Northern University (MT), Rider (MT), Texas State (MT)
Roosevelt (MT)
New York University (Tisch: NSB)
California State University Fullerton (MT), Elon (BA)
Muhlenberg (MT) (BA)
Ohio Northern (MT), Point Park (MT)
New York University (Tisch: NSB)
Montclair University (MT)
Rider (MT), Hartt/U. of Hartford BFA MT
: Rider (MT), Hartt/U. of Hartford BFA MT
Columbia College (MT), Loyola University Chicago (MT)
Harrt/U. of Hartford BFA MT
Point Park (MT), Rider (MT

Thank you!!

Thanks, what a great start. I am hoping that she can get a yes early to take some of the stress off but like you said santafedad even if it doesn’t come back in her favor we can learn from that.

on santafedad post - I’m guessing that the NYU and Muhlenberg December results were Early Decision - locking you in to them if you get accepted. Very different way to go vs. a school with early action or rolling admissions!

Two more schools which recently anyway have had fall auditions and sometimes a quick decision: Elon, Shenadoah.
It is a great idea to audition early - especially if it’s not your first choice school so you can try out your material before you hit your first choices.

PLEASE UPDATE THIS LIST BASED ON YOUR RECENT EXPERIENCES.

Based on this thread and others in the 2013/2014 audition season, it appears these audition programs offer early acceptances. I am classifying “early” as end of January because it is before Unifieds. When auditioning early, the result can be a Yes, No or Deferred. Some schools accept very few at their early auditions, while others start to significantly fill their class. Please do not rely on the information on this list: check the details with the schools directly!

(I did not include non-audition programs, since that can be determined by a simple check on the school’s general admissions page).

I do know that there were some admissions to Montclair before January this year. We spoke to an MTCA coach in mid-December and a few kids were already accepted.

Montclair is already on the list, but next person to update the list with a major change will update it to show first notification to be in December.

U arts only does one acceptance which is both artistic and academic. My D auditioned in November and heard 3 weeks later.

Can someone add to the list that Molloy and CAP 21 are both rolling admission. You hear right away if you’re academically admitted and then within 2 - 3 weeks after your audition if you’re artistically admitted. I’m on my cell phone and can’t figure out how to copy snd paste on it. Thanks!
