Are there rolling admissions for the Ivy League if you're an athlete? Certainly they can't have everyone committed by Jan. 1?

Early Decision and Early Action are the typical admissions process for recruited athletes. Most of these athletes are committed long before Jan 1.

Some Ivy League athletes are admitted via regular decision. Check with the individual school to find the admission decision notification date.

The process is somewhat different for athletes, but we were told that the applicant should plan on submitting a full application by summer before senior year to get a pre-read and possibly a Likely Letter. There are other threads about how reliable Likely Letters are (very).

In the Ivy consortium, there are two official notification dates. There is one in December for those who apply through the school’s EA or ED program. Then there is the normal late March, early April notification date (or Ivy Day). There is no “rolling admission”

The Ivies use Likely Letters to cement their commitments to certain athletes however. These can be issued as early as October 1 and go to March 15. I think Lacrosse (due to their early season) may have earlier allowances, however.

Yes, the season does matter, fall sports vs. spring sports.
