Rolling admissions generalities?

Are there any? LOL My main question has to do with those schools that are already accepting applications, have rolling admissions, but don't actually begin reviewing til October. So we might get notified by November, but that doesn't really seem all that 'early' to me.

Anyone have a nice soothing place to learn more about how rolling admissions work? Thanks!

It isn’t too early to start applying to some of these schools. The earlier the better in my opinion, unless your student needs to beef up their app with senior grades or retake SAT/ACT tests.

There are plenty of books that list schools with rolling admissions. This is dated, but has been posted here before (recheck that they still have rolling admissions). Scroll down to the rolling list:

There are no generalities with rolling admission schools. Some notify in a matter of days, some say give them a couple weeks and some wait and clump releases together in batches. October and November IS early, it’s barely into the beginning of your senior year!

The nice part of schools with rolling admissions - is that besides early notification - these are generally some of the easiest apps you will encounter. Typically there are no essays - maybe just a personal stmt - and no teacher recs. Having an acceptance in late October or November is so nice - takes a bit of pressure off - I highly recommend it.

Maybe, although none of my kids has run into a rolling admission school that didn’t require an essay and all required at least a GC req…so there really are no generalities. Heck UofM is a difficult school to get into and requires multiple essays and the Profile was a classic rolling admissions school until last year.

uab doesnt need an essay…quick online app. you can submit your grades, scores etc as available. just checked my son’s app folder…he had his acceptance by oct 13th last year.
