Rolling admissions or late March?

First of all, I don't know how parents with multiple children go through this process of waiting to hear back from colleges because this is the most stressful, anxious time that I can ever remember.

Secondly, my son's file was "deferred to March file review" but I am wondering if there are rolling admissions or if it is then like many colleges with the March 15-31 alert period?

We all have our fingers and our toes crossed that he gets into U of O, but this waiting is so difficult!!

The process seems to be taking much longer this year than in years past. I’m a UO alum and would have loved for my son to go to UO, but unfortunately other schools accepted him quite awhile ago and have been courting him since (letters, stickers, brochures, phone calls, emails, accepted student receptions in our area, etc. etc.) and he made his decision regardless of his answer from UO. He will be going to Michigan State this Fall.

We are having the same issues! Some of his friends have heard from U of O already, but it seems like the majority of students haven’t. When I contacted the admissions office, I was told we will hear by April 1st, but that is just too long to wait. I’m hoping soon!! It is his top choice, but this is definitely frustrating.

Acceptance posted yesterday. But decision to go to MSU remains the same. If only…

My son said no wait list, so we sent $$ to UMinn, but he is on the list, best to keep options open. He feels quite rejected, this is NOT what I expected the college app process to be like.

It’s a tough one. I was bummed out by the process too, but I do get that universities need to manage enrollment so they don’t overbook the freshman class and create a poor experience for the students. Each year more and more students apply to U of O, and with this being a big year with a Rose Bowl win their numbers probably went up again. So while I wish it worked out differently, I sympathize with how hard it must be to be in admissions at a university that is growing in popularity to accept the “right” number of students to end up with the right sized class. As an alum I’m sorry for anyone who is left with a bad feeling about U of O. That’s too bad.

My DD was also waitlisted. Should have been an automatic accept based on classes and GPA and scores. Not sure why this CA student was waitlisted.

Tulare-my husband is an alum as well. This is very discouraging -we live very far away so trying to purchase reasonable airline tickets in advance (especially for June or July orientation) is not happening. I sincerely hope they begin reviewing the wait list in early May and sending rolling notifications. they could start
