Can some of you look at our list and let me know which of these schools have rolling admissions? I'm having a difficult time finding all the information on the various websites. Thanks!!

University of Central Florida (pretty sure this one does)
Coastal Carolina
UNCSA
Virginia Commonwealth
Shenandoah
Webster
Evansville
Point Park
University of Northern Kentucky

Evansville isn’t exactly rolling, but they told us this summer that if an applicant was accepted through the admissions office in late fall and did an early audition (I think by December?) they would try to let them know within a few weeks. After that, I think they hold off till the winter audition season is over. Also, Hartt (not on your list, I know) does an early notification system–apply by November 1, audition early December, find out around Christmas. You would want to check my facts here, but that’s the way I noted it. Re: Point Park, you may want to look on the individual PP forum over on the Musical Theater boards as there is a lot of discussion about their admission system that you would want to know about in advance. Hope that helps a little bit!

Coastal Carolina has rolling admissions to the university. You should hear about 3 weeks after submitting your application. In terms of artistic acceptances, at least in the past, they did what I would call a variation on rolling admissions. They might accept some artistically in the fall from the fall auditions, while others from those auditions would be released from consideration or put into the pool for later consideration. Most students in the spring auditions would either be kept in the pool or released from consideration until all of the spring auditions were completed, but there could be exceptions to this who were offered a spot before the end of the audition cycle.

Ken Martin described the process this way in a post earlier this year.

Agree with Austinmom. Be sure to check whether you are required to apply to the University separate from the Theater program. University applications are those most frequently rolling (this is true for UCF and almost all Florida Public Universities).

Forgot to mention that your high school guidance counselor can also be a good resource–ours even called two universities to get the skinny on whether “later” applications were put in the “holding bin” (yes for UCF No for TCU)

Sadly, our guidance counselors are morons. No help there. It’s all up to the families and the kids to figure this out. So, I’m especially thankful for everyone here!

Just a little clarification about UArts. Students who the school clearly wants or who are clearly rejected typically hear within 2 weeks of their audition. The majority of students hear within this time frame. There are some students, however, who fall into the undecided category who may not hear until after the last MT auditions are held which is usually mid-March. Anecdotally, it seems that more students have fallen into this category over the last year or so but still the large majority of students do get their decisions within 2 weeks.
