Rolling Admissions

I plan to apply to the University of Portland. They are rolling admissions. My stats (1780 SAT) (4.0) GPA, few EC's. I also registered to take the ACT and a few subject tests. Should I send my application now with these stats and possibly send my possibly better stats later in the process? Is this beneficial or possible?

What is the 25-75% range of accepted students? Are you comfortably in the midrange? If so you can feel comfortable given your gpa, imo.

Are u ready to submit the app right now?

My Critical Reading score is 590, and my math score is 680. I took all the most rigorous classes my school had to offer. The 25-75% of University of Portland 540-650 CR, 550-640 M, according to the Collegeboard website.

And yes, I feel that I am ready to submit my application. I am concerned about resubmitting a higher test score (if possible.)

From my experience, if you send them an official score that’s higher, they will discard the score that’s lower. At least that’s what happened in my case- I submitted higher test scores after the app due date and they used those instead of the ones I filed in December. The more stuff you send to the college for them to look at and admire, the better your shot at it will be. Your GPA is high, so you really shouldn’t worry about it. Plus they have a relatively high acceptance rate, so you really, really shouldn’t be stressing over this.

Based on your current stats you should be fine to submit now. Update with additional information if your scores improve.

Sergey, this is a rolling app school. That means that by the time any higher scores are submitted, the school will quite possibly already have made it’s decision. Get it? So the OP is right to be concerned about getting it right the first time - there won’t be any second chances!

OP - I’d contact the school and ask what impact it might have to submit higher scores later this fall. Find out how long it takes them, this early in the season, to make decisions.

I would wait until you get the new scores back to apply so that you can put your strongest application forward. They will also look at these stats for scholarships, too. Our DD LOVES University of Portland and will be applying, as well. She is scheduled to take the ACT and SAT one more time and we are holding off on applying until she is done with her final round of testing, too.

Doesn’t matter. It’s still a school, and they will take information and use it in consideration whenever possible. I applied to a rolling app school and they still used scores I submitted a week after submitting an application. All in all, OP is just over-worrying about this situation.

JESATPREP, I’d go ahead and apply now. Your stats look good, and it is usually less competitive earlier on for rolling admissions. If you retake and scores go up submit those.
