Rolling admissions??

I heard that UT has rolling admissions for undergraduates. Is this true, and does this mean that I'll have a greater chance of being accepted if I apply early? I'm applying to Cockrell for electrical/computer engineering, if that matters. I'm in the top 2% of my class (4.7 weighted and 4.0 unweighted GPA) and I'm in-state, so I'm automatically admitted to the undergrad school. The reason I'm asking is because I'm afraid that all the spots in Cockrell (which I'm not auto-admitted to) will be taken up by the time I apply. I got a 33 composite ACT so I think I have a good chance, but if all the spots are taken up by the time I apply, will it matter? I'm taking the ACT again next weekend and I'll send in my application when I get the scores back, which will be in a couple of weeks.
tl;dr does UT have rolling admissions and if so, should I be worried/apply early?

Yes they do rolling admissions. I would say it would be best for you to send in your application now with your current scores and then after receiving the new scores just send them ASAP as long as they are better. A 33 is a really strong score so I don’t see how it could be detrimental but yeah just go ahead and get your application in imho and best of luck.

Thanks for the info. The reason I’m taking the ACT again is because I got a 29 on the math section, which I don’t think is good enough for UT engineering. I got a 36 on reading though and good scores on the other sections so I’m still going to submit those scores, but I’m certain that I can get at least a 34 on the math section if I were to take it again. So I think I’ll submit my application and just send in the scores for the upcoming ACT when they are released.
I’m surprised that this isn’t general knowledge, however - there is nothing on the UT website about rolling admissions. I’d think that such a large public school would be open to sharing the fact that applications are viewed on a rolling basis.

I remember someone on this board asked about rolling admission and someone else say no, UT doesn’t do rolling admission. But regardless, you’re in top 2% then you’re in, Crockell or McCombs.

To clarify,

Foafoa is right that they aren’t a true rolling admissions school but it kind of works that way for those within the top 7%.
