My son ONLY wanted to go to Madison. We visited and on the way home he told us he wanted to look at other schools. UMN is now his top choice (unless one of his reach schools actually accepts him). He’s doing a history/English undergrad (law school hopeful) and recognizes that Minneapolis offers him so much more for internships and “stuff”. He also wasn’t impressed by the Madison party scene. I highly recommend the UMN tour!
@mamadtb - I don’t know if Madison really is a bigger party school or not, but it certainly has that reputation around here. DS was a hard no just because of that and the kids from his school hoping to get in just for that reason.
Sounds like decisions are coming out Fri night/Sat morning at midnight again this year - you may want to check your trackers
My DS just got accepted this morning to CSE.
It says in his tracker “Update Available”, and when view update the acceptance letter is there.
There is no major in the letter. How does he know if he get the first choice major?
My son was also accepted this morning in CEHD, Human Resource Development major. The tracker did not change yesterday afternoon like in prior years so they must be doing things a little differently this year. Also, his letter just stated college as well.
My son was accepted this morning to CSE!
No change on DS’s tracker. If they’re going with the slam dunks right away it’s not a surprise as he’s just barely in the middle 50th percentile.
CSE doesn’t admit to the major. You have to apply for it later. I think they do that starting Fall of Sophomore year. 3.2 GPA is a guaranteed admit then it’s a competitive/space available admission after that.
My son’s acceptance was in there too! It was not at all what we were expecting when it said there was an update. We thought it was just an update…and there it was! He’s admitted to CLA as a history major. History isn’t listed on the acceptance letter, just CLA.
I cried…and I made him cry lol I had him when I was very young and this is beyond our wildest dreams. I’m so proud of him!
Congratulations to all of your families as well! Definitely a job well done <3
Now on to FAFSA, housing, and scholarship apps!
Son got in too. CSE. I’m happy, he is calm.
Congrats to everyone who got in!
Congrats to all! My daughter applied to CFANS this morning so I’m glad to hear decisions are coming fairly quickly as the U is her first choice. She has been accepted to Iowa State and West Virginia with scholarship money at both but nothing beats the city of Minneapolis and the U!
DS got into CSE!
My daughter applied Monday and was accepted today!!! Fastest turn around ever! Love the U!!!
Congratulations to cshell2 and wifemomteacher.
We got the big envelop today, with a HUGE “YOU’RE IN!” on it
@cowhorse Congratulations to you as well!! Such exciting times for the kids! The U is an amazing school on so many levels!
Dumb question… when you apply through coalition do you enter all your courses/grades, ect manually in the Minnesota application SRAR??
@Noisymom yes:
https://admissions.tc.umn.edu/apply/index.html
"Academic Record

… Coalition Application: after submitting your form, go to z.umn.edu/AcademicRecord and create an account using the same email address as your application."
Thanks, @myrna97
My S submitted app to CLA yesterday . UW 3.6, ACT 30, rigorous curriculum, in state. Naviance shows his chances to be very good. If so I hope they continue the quick turnarounds. It would be such a boost to get an acceptance soon!
