Rolling Admissions?

MY OOS S has similar stats- applied on 9/3 but has not heard yet

My DS applied via the Common App on 9/24 & received his acceptance packet on 10/4. (He’d never even checked in on his status online since it had barely been a week!) Admitted to CSM with 32 ACT, 3.8 unweighted GPA (mix of AP & regular classes), top 15% of his class. Good luck to those still waiting!

For reference if you’re trying to compare admitted students to yourself/your kids:
My son was accepted on 09/28 to CLA. He applied in August. He goes to a larger public school in Wisconsin with strong academics. He’s in the top 20% of his class.
3.75 GPA
35 ACT
9 AP’s taken so far (5’s on all exams taken)-National AP Scholar
He’s taking 4 more AP classes this year
Badger Boys State
Mock Trial
Track/XC
Student Council
He was NOT accepted into Honors. This was perfectly fine by as (and him). He’s worked very hard through high school and he’s looking forward to enjoying his freshman year of college. He’s still planning on applying to live in Middlebrook, though. He loves politics and LARP, so even though he’s not Honors, the environment there is still his thing.
UMN was his top choice, so we paid the deposit and got his FAFSA submitted.

I applied 8/26 and still have not heard anything back.

My D submitted her app to CLA on 9/26 and the last item for her app was submitted yesterday. She was accepted to CLA today! I’m so excited for her. In-state, unweighted GPA 3.97, ACT 29, 1 AP course (score of 4), 24 credits of duel enrollment, and some honors/advance courses, many EC, no essay submitted. Political science major. Go Gophers!!

@mamadtb I think honors and scholarship will be announced much later, in Feb or March.

@cowhorse that’s good to know! Thank you! That makes a lot of sense, considering that they would wait a bit longer to make sure they are making the right decisions.

Yes, that’s not uncommon. While Minnesota will admit early, they don’t make all their decisions early. My dd had a friend who REALLY wanted to go to MN. But though she applied early they did not make a decision for a long time. In the meanwhile she applied and was accepted to lots other schools, got frustrated with waiting for MN, and accepted admission elsewhere. She did eventually get admitted but by then had moved on. I think the obvious “yes” applications here quickly and the rest wait.

S submitted on 10/8 and is still waiting for the login email. How long did it take to get that for your students? I am hoping he hears fairly soon but it sounds like it varies a lot. Thanks

@ chardonMN, my D submitted her app on 10/7 and received her login email on 10/9. I would say wait a few more days and probably call the U?

@Alexasoto - From reading through last year’s acceptance threads, it seems that UMN is really random in how they do things. Some people wait days, some months. Maybe it just depends on who’s desk it lands on? Also last year certain colleges were accepting faster than other ones.

I’m crossing my fingers you hear something soon.

My daughter submitted her application through Coalition on Oct 1, next day she received an email from UM with ID number and instructions to log in. There were some technical glitches we had to resolve with their technical department (we were unable to create an account and log in after, 403 error) On the Oct 9 we entered her academic record (classes, grades, tests) and on Oct 10 we got admission decision to CSE. Good luck to everyone who is waiting!!

Does anyone know if it is better to wait for letters of rec before submitting, or should I just go ahead with it? I’m OOS and anxious to get in my app.
Applying to CSE

It is optional. We submitted the application before school started and got admitted without providing letter of rec.
For other schools, we submitted applications without waiting for letter of rec, and teachers are supposed to submit to school directly by themselves. In one school’s account, I can see the school counselor has sent the LoR and school report, but teachers haven’t done so yet.

Hi guys!
Are you talking the University of Minnesota Twin Cities with Rolling Admission?

@sunquebec We solved it! Rolling admissions that started the last week of September

S has submitted on 10/8 and application is listed as complete. He did finally get the email to get into the tracker. No admission reply yet. Should I have the GC send the rec, as it’s probably ready to go now for other EA deadlines.? Nowhere did it ask for that or an essay, but he could send them.

Where could you find it is rolling admission?

Just by the fact that people have been getting accepted already. They’re not doing them all at once in Dec or Jan.

It seems honors and scholarships are also rolling bases. Did anybody receive those decisions yet?
