Rolling Admissions?

My sons GC said Clemson was rolling admissions so he applied very early. In researching I see that no matter how early you apply acceptance letters won’t go out until mid Feb. Is that correct? He wanted at least one rolling admissions college to get an early acceptance (hopefully) to take the pressure off, plus he really likes Clemson. Has anyone received an early acceptance based on early application?
Thanks!

My son didnt apply there, but some of his friends did and he mentioned one had gotten accepted the other day.
I think many schools that do not technically have rolling admissions do send out acceptances periodically in waves up until their notification date, while others are true to the date. No idea why some applicants hear earlier than others - maybe by major or academic performance or it was simply one of the applications they picked up first. Who knows! These admissions processes are a big crazy mystery!
Good luck to your son!

Thank you! He just applied a week ago, hoping he will hear soon. Do you have any idea how long between applying and hearing back?

@PH I don’t believe Clemson is truly rolling admissions, but they do send out acceptances in waves. When my son applied four years ago, he received his acceptance in early November. At least back then, the first round of acceptances were to high stats kids receiving the larger merit scholarships.

@PH Clemson is not rolling admissions like Pitt, Bama and others. However, they will admit some high stat kids early usually starting the first week in November. Often another batch of high stat admissions go out in December as well. However the large majority of students do not hear until February 15.

They have what they used to call “EC” (Early Consideration), but I think they just call it priority notification now. Students who apply by Dec 1st will be notified by February 15th. As burghdad said, some high stat students hear earlier. The first wave for the class of 2024 went out on Nov. 3rd last year. I don’t remember Clemson ever sending acceptance letters this early in October, but in the year of covid, anything is possible. It’s a crazy year, so things may be a little different. I hope they keep the Tigertown Bound envelope tradition. Good luck!!

Unless things have changed since 2 years ago, only high stats kids who are offered scholarships hear before February. My son heard in early November 2 years ago but he had 35/1540, unweighted 4.0 with highest rigor and ended up as valedictorian. My current applicant has an unweighted 4.0 with slightly less rigor (2 fewer APs) and a 34. Not expecting notification or a scholarship but that may change since he was able to submit a good test score. Just heard half of early applications to UGA did not submit scores, and their applications went up 25 percent.

The first round of Clemson acceptance letters went out last week. My daughter attended a Zoom recruiting event over the weekend, and that is what the admissions office told the students.

Yes first rounds went out last week. My son received his acceptance on the portal (no email) with a scholarship. He applied early September.

It is not traditional rolling admissions. Admissions go out in November for high stats kids that get scholarships. My son was admitted several days ago with a scholarship. 35 ACT and unweighted 3.98.

Is there a second round in Dec.?

has anyone got accepted out of state for clemson univ.

I wish I knew!

Yes i know of two OOS who have been admitted to Clemson, and both were offered merit (amount determined in spring). Both submitted scores. I haven’t heard of anyone from CA admitted yet, nor anyone who applied TO.

The only ones I’ve heard of that are getting acceptances right now are the ones with really high SAT scores (1500+). That’s not my kid! Lol!

Nothing likely this week I’d imagine

Not so sure - my son took the SAT one time with a 1530. Still says awaiting decision for both admissions and Honors College…
