"Rolling" decisions?

someone who is applying told me that Harvard does rolling decision, but the website says that decisions are mailed out in early April? The website implies rolling as well. Can someone clear this up? When exactly do you find out?

Harvard does not have rolling decision because then people who applied the earliest would have the best chance, not necessarily those with the highest credentials. Harvard also has to schedule alumni interviews that usually take place during the winter and early spring, meaning a rolling decision schedule would not work.

You will find out in an email on 4/1 around 5 pm if you signed up for email notification. If not, you can go online after 5:00 pm and see if you can log in to the admitted students section. If you can, then you are in.

Only a couple hundred applicants receive “likely letters” before 4/1 indicating acceptance barring any significant changes. There are no rolling decisions, only early notification of acceptance for athletes and a select number of students.
