Rolling knapsack and travel gym bag help

I’m straightening up the random stuff we brought home from younger S’ apartment and found this. We bought it years ago I think for $20. He uses it all the time.

I think this is the updated version on Amazon, but they also make smaller ones

The Adidas bag is pretty much what he is currently using for travel, only it is a Nike hand me down from my son! The problem I am finding with the gym bags is most have a solid bottom, so can not be folded or rolled up and take up a good bit of luggage room. Maybe if he had a smaller one it would be better.

@oldfort, That bag is looks nice, but he still wants a backpack style as he want the small front pocket for pens and such.

My husband has a couple Eddie Bauer duffel bags with no hard bottom for YEARS. It’s how he prefers to pack for car road trips.
