Roman and Greek History.../ Oh ya, and transfer

Hey,

So, I am currently at Georgia Tech. I have been thinking of transfering to a program for Roman and Greek History... and obviously Tech is not for this. I was firstly wondering if UNC had a good program.

Secondly, I was wondering if I stood a shot at even getting in if I applied. I usually do not like chance threads, but you do not have to do an in depth thing on me -- just if my stats fall in the range of accepted students (to see about applying). Also, could anyone tell me the date that transfer applications are due, and if spring grades are factored in?

Thanks y'all

ACT: 33

High School GPA: 4.0

College Freshman GPA: It will be about a 3.2 - .3 this semester (hopefully should be higher after these weed out courses are over, meaning next semester if it counts should be a good deal better if I take some of my history classes and such)

I won't include the EC's, I just want to know if those scores fall into the range.

Again, thanks!

I’ve noticed your thread sitting idle for a few days now, so I guess I’ll toss you a bone :)

The Classics department is superb here. Every professor is a leader in their field and the classes are quite small, due to the size and intimacy of the department. Most of the Classics students are on a first name basis with each other and often hold get-togethers with students from Duke’s classics department (also, the two schools share resources and participate in archeological digs together). Plus, each undergraduate gets their own mailbox for news updates and things going on in the department.

Also, I think you have a good shot at getting end. Good luck.

Ha, thanks for the bone –

And also, thanks for the response. More out of curiosity now, though if anyone reads this I stil would like the original question answered if you could, does Duke and UNC do alot together? Just seems whenever I hear one I hear the other.

^^^kind of. You have to remember, the two schools are rivals. And thus, the two student bodies kinda got their own thing goin’ on. I don’t think the kids at Duke really care what’s going on at UNC, and vice versa. (This is all in the spirit of friendly competitiveness of course.)

However, I do know of at least a couple of organizations that are inter-institutional (Rival Magazine comes to mind). Also, there’s a free bus that goes back and forth between the two campuses every 30mins. Some students take classes at both schools, so this is necessary. But, from what it seems, once you get into UNC, you are almost brainwashed into hating Duke, lol. So, that means, why would you even want to take classes at the State University of New Jersey in Durham in the first place?

I, personally, plan on doing it though. I could care very little about the rivalries :stuck_out_tongue: Also, I have to mention, if you are not a Robertson Scholar, you are limited to one inter institutional class per semester, but considering the price of Duke, I still consider it a bargain to earn credit hours at Duke at UNC prices.
