Oooh, congratulations everyone! This really inspires and motivates me for the next year! "free" hug for each

in at UPenn :D
I sincerely thought I would stay at home.
I already ordered books for ASE admission=)). I am so happy :D

Either rejected or waitlisted by: Stanford, Upenn, Brown, WPI, Yale, Emory, Northwestern, WUSTL, Caltech, Duke, RPI, Lehigh, Amherst, Grinnell, Vanderbilt
Got into: Harvard, Princeton, Cornell, Johns Hopkins (with full finaid) :)
I hope it's not an April Fools' Day prank. :P Congrats to you all.

Quagmire88 congratulations! You have quite an impressive list there. Willing to share any secret strategies? :)

thanks idwtk444 and Quagmire88... I haven't received my stanford aid package yet; but I received Princeton's, which is great - I only have to pay like $200 ...!?

Quagmire88: are you that girl that got 2400 on the SAT? .... and where are you thinking of going to - Hv, Pton, Cornell, or JH?

quagmire ... that doesn't sound that girlish.
anywayz kudos to all... I got into Bowdoin, Cornell and Colgate

Wow Quagmire!! Congrats!!!

plusqueparfaite, congrats on Penn! Are you going there?

Those are amazing aid packages! $200 for Princeton omg.

as i have finally got all my answers, i am ready to share them:
rejected: macalester, davidson, bates, harvard, oberlin lehigh
waitlisted: colby, carleton, kenyon, hamilton, dickinson and middlebury
accepted: VASSAR :)
these past few weeks have been incredibely stressful. i am so excited about vasar. i am waiting for their financial aid offer, but it should be good (they cover 100% need for admitted intl), but nothing's settled till i get the offer.
as florentina and i were talking one day, i am the queen of wait lists. do you know of any other romanians at vassar?
congrats everyone and may we have the biggest fin aid ever :D

tweety... Strategy: 3-4 hours of sleep every night.
ph1.89... No, I'm not that girl who got 2400 on the SATs. I'm that guy who didn't get 2400 on the SATs. Harvard is where I'll be going.

so Quagmire you mean a lot of work (thus less sleep?)
I was more curious about what do you think made you so appealing to harvard for example, and less appealing to upenn or amherst? (which is said to be somewhat easier to get into than harvard)
essays? ECs? science olympiads?

Wow! Romania seems to be on a roll!

I didn't make it anywhere. Period.

For those of you who haven't applied yet, let me offer you an IMPORTANT piece of advice: pay extreme close attention to your essays. Make them perfect. I think this is what got me out from everywhere, despite an international medal and extremely good academic results.

i am really sorry to hear that angelutza. did you apply to a lot of ivy-league/top LAC's ? I've heard that the admission rate went down for all of them, as well as the school budget (which of course includes the budget allotted to internationals)

Yup, I am going to UPenn, Rister_Chutophs.

as for angelutza... :X I got to say that you helped me a lot throughout this period and... I'm glad that, beside this whole experience, I got to make such a great friend. :X >:D<

Yes, I applied only to top unis/LACs because I didn't want to leave the country for a not-so-great school. I am not the 'run-as-far-from-Romania-as-possible' kind of person and I think there are plenty of US universities weaker than ours.

The great thing is that I could help a lot of people and made many friends among this process (plusqueparfaite, you are somewhere on the top of this list).

Yes angelutza, thanks for your help with the essays and everything! I'm really really sorry that no college accepted you with reasonable FA :( You're still going to have a bright future, no matter what university you choose to attend.

Plusqueparfaite, me too :) (like 95%!) did you already get your acceptance package?

i've just gotten my fin aid from vassar. it's great! i am definitely going :)

got in at pomona. full ride. don't really want to go though... it's just so far away...

dana, pomona is a really great school and... it's California! which means many opportunities and nice weather. I understand you don't like that it's so far (I am on the west coast too) but...
what other options do you have?
