Romanian thread

Hello there and welcome! :D tell us a little something about yourself:d

Hey,
I'm a junior in high school on the West Coast (Spokane, WA to be exact). I came to the US via NY at an early age and then my parents ended up moving here. I'm hoping to go to college in Europe (I like our sort of mentality better, I think). I .visit Romania pretty often and I speak Romanian at home:) I consider myself Romanian (I'm not an American citizen) and I really like it there because the people are just warmer, I would say. (I'm so sorry for these stereotypes, just kinda what I honestly feel).
Oricum, vad ca postati in englezeste ca sa inteleaga toata lumea. De unde sunteti voi?

Well :D...io-s din Bucuresti :D si st de-asemenea a "junior"
So, where do you want to apply in the near future? :)

I want to apply at Oxford, LSE, UChicago, Georgetown and UWashington (its close and easier to get into). Also, maybe Stanford, UCLA, Princeton, but I dont really know yet. At the moment, I'd really like to England, but we'll see...
How about you?

Hi there! sorry for the late reply, but i had a few exams to give so...
Well i wish to apply to Johns Hopkins, Cornell and a few other American colleges...maybe Colby?

You want to study medicine? What school do you go to in Bucharest?

Hey there!
Romanian high school seniors, to what colleges have you applied?
I'm from Targoviste and have applied to the following: Duke, Yale, UPenn, Colgate, Lehigh, Dartmouth, Hamilton, Wesleyan, Bryn Mawr, Gettysburg, Middlebury, Tufts & Columbia.

Ho, blanche :D...well, how about giving us your stats :D...you know, like in the 'what are my chances' thread :)

I'm just too lazy to write long stats. Maybe you want to have a "quid pro quo" conversation on yahoo! mess or... facebook? :)

Hey guys,

So nice to find this topic !

My name is Laura, I am currently a junior, I am from Romania, but I am currently enrolled in a boarding prep high school in CT, USA (living the boarding school experience, for a year, by a scholarship program). I will be back home for my senior year, applying to USA colleges from there.

I have recently taken the PSAT (prep for SAT’s, presumably) and I’m taking the real thing in January. I am also taking my first SAT Subject Tests in less than a week (French w/ Listening, Literature and Math II).

Good luck to all of you with your exams! Hope we’re all getting in our dream schools.
it’s so nice to discover a Romanian community on an American forum !

Cheers,
Laura

hi guys!
I was reading through the first pages of the thread, and I’ve gotta say, I’m considering my chances to get into a good US school less and less…
I don’t have any international olympiads or international anythings D: I’ve been at the national english ones both as a freshman and soph. Couldn’t go this year cause of a personal issue. Sucks.
So I’m just gonna hope to wow them with an awesome essay or something, cause if they’re looking for loads of international/national competitions, I’m gonna have to disappoint them. Fact is, I live in Caracal, and we don’t really get a helluva lot of opportunities for contests. I only ever find out about the various olympiads. And the teachers don’t always tell us about them in the first place, either cause they forget or they just can’t be bothered to give us practice materials.

Are you applying this year?

No, I’m a junior. To be honest, I am so not looking forward to the application process. But you gotta do what you gotta do if you wanna go to a good college, right?

Indeed. If only the Romanian Post would deliver my apps already…

Applied this year? Hope you get in where you want!
Speaking of which, where DID you apply? Or, where are you planning to apply if you’re like me

Applied this year to 16 colleges. LAC’s only

Wow, that’s a whole lot of colleges! Tell us where you get in!

Hi
Does anyone know how to have an interview for Princeton in Romania ?

Any Romanians on College Confidential?
