Romanian thread

The books from Penguin are simplified? I really doubt. I mean, I happened to buy one I had already read in English from an authentic source and it was exactly the same. And I seem not to see you on mess when I log in.

hei chuci! yes, i have taken the sat, have applied, and i am now waiting for the admission results. i don't really know what advice to give you for the sat. it is a really tiring exam, it takes about five hours, and there's a lot of work going on in a short amount of time. my advice would be read as much as you can, write as much as you can, try to think out of the box (for the writing section). you shouldn't have any problems with the math section if you didn't have any problems at the capacitate. oh, and don't forget to register for the test a veeeery long time before the actual test. that way you can choose where to take it, and you don't have to pay the extra fees. i forgot to register for SAT II, and i had to pay an extra 40 $.

I received my first rejection, from Caltech (Yale doesn't count). I hope for some good news after a short while, but in the meantime, good luck to all of you who start receiving decisions.

I'm sorry to hear about that. I'm sure it's tough right now, but don't worry, you'll be accepted some place you'll like even better then caltech and where you'll have the time of your life. You're soon going to forget about this rejection. Smile and keep your head up. :-) Think pink!

i'm sorry to hear that ana. i really hope everything turns out fine for all of us on this thread. does caltech usually start giving decisions so early?

It has already mailed all the decisions. I know so far of 2 Romanians accepted, but they seem not to have enough financial aid.

same here; rejected
hey, who are the 2 you're talking about? and, once they admit someone, don't they have to meet her/his full demonstrated need?

Dumi was admitted, but he doesn't have enough aid. There is another girl from Bucharest who is said to be good at Math. I just found out that Ama was waitlisted.

Hei there guys, fellow Romanian here :D How's the application process treating you ?

It's messing with our minds!

What about you? Tell us something about yourself. Where are you from, what's your dream college, what are your aspirations, that kind of stuff. :-)

daria89, the process is really killing me :D
I saw you on the Oberlin College thread... were you accepted?

I'm from Galati. Regarding my dream college, I keep changing my mind. At the end of the day, I think it'll be the one that not only accepts me but also grants me that MUCH needed fin aid:)) Oberlin hasn't gotten back to me as of yet, but the waiting is definitely getting to me. Hope it goes well for all of us. Therefore, multa bafta to all of you!

idktk444 - my aspirations: work at the white house, invent the non-fatening chocolate, that kind of stuff :)) only time will tell which will fall through and which will not :p

So, any of you received any answers ?

regards comrades.
First off: Cal Tech sucks. Why didn't I apply? Its site = poop on a stick. C'mon, it's an institute of technology. If you'd leave any student there locked in a room with a computer, no food and a book on php, html, etc. , he'd be bound to make a site nX better.
Second off: am I worried, waiting, wishing, dreaming? No. And I have yet to be rejected.

@daria ==> I got into Edinburgh and Warwick; they're in the UK;

gl&hf

I was rejected by MIT.

...so was I; not even waitlisted

2 down (Ctech, MIT), 10 to go

a veritable wall of shame: rejected Oberlin. (10 more to go, also, my hope is a bit down :-<)
I know other 2 Romanians rejected by Ob.... I am really curious what daria89 did...
pff... I am really not in my best mood right now :(

plusqueparfaite, don't dwell on it, I've got the same answer. It was kind of funny. One minute I had no mails, the other I had two, one rejection and one admission. I also know other Romanians who were rejected. Hei, we should've been from India =) just kidding. I'm sure better news will come. We just have to agonize a little :p

MIT has an ugly campus. I applied at Harvard cuz I can cross-register courses at MIT(it's only two subway stations from Harvard). Harvard campus and MIT courses :).
wl oberlin

Assuming you get in.

never said I will. the interviewer was awfully nice though.
