Does anyone have any suggestions for romantic date ideas either on-campus or near the campus?

I can’t claim to offer fantastic ideas, but here’s my list off the top of my head:
- Have a nice dinner in the Commons and before/after walk around the area with your date (usually there are performers, or you can just check out the shops).
- Incorporate a stroll around the gorges; go to the park at Cayuga Lake; or try Beebe Lake
- As for restaurants, Stella’s is probably the nicest in C-town, or for a little cheaper I always liked the atmosphere of Aladdin’s.
- See if you can see some sort of performing arts event in the Schwartz Center

find out when the planeterium is having public viewing…

^I can attest that that’s also a good idea. It’s difficult though because Ithaca is frequently cloudy.

Probably not a December idea … but what about a sunset lake cruise? Or even possible to rent a boat for an afternoon? In the right weather of course.

Over 21, winery tour and tastings. Lots of choices in the area.

Day trip to Skeaneatles (or however it’s spelled!). Lunch, shopping, spa, boat cruise etc.

Another day trip date idea – Corning Glass Works. I think they have make your own sessions.

good suggestions from mikeyc765. one thing to watch out with the commons idea is that it might be worth the effort to make a reservation ahead of time, especially if you want to go to one of the more established places.
while you’re down there consider the movies at Cinemapolis. (for that matter, consider the movies at Cornell Cinema.) I know that going to the movies might be more of a date for middle schoolers but at least they have some classy selections at both of these places.

to expand on #4, any performance put on by other Cornell students (dance groups, theater of various sorts, music groups) could be good ideas. usually they’re really high-quality. maybe that’s little mundane, but surely the point of the date isn’t to do the most expensive and complicated activity possible.

last thought: start out a date with a chimes concert: [The Cornell Chimes](http://www.chimes.cornell.edu/schedule.php)

my favorite romantic things to do in ithaca usually require warm weather unfortunately—picnics in the plantations are great, swimming, etc.

a walk around beebe lake is nice, so is going out near the plantations at night and stargazing with a bottle of wine—or hot apple cider at this time of year i suppose!

for places to eat, my favorite dinner spots would be madelines in the commons and hazlenut kitchen which is about 20 min away in trumansburg but SO WORTH IT. for ctown, stellas is the best.

if you want to go to a movie definitely go to cinemapolis rather than the mall. so much nicer, and cheap too.
