I don't have a convincing argument, other than the fact that Pro-Life-ers generally have a very unstable position on the topic of abortion. (i.e the whole, if you're raped "it's a different story" type of thing) & that abortions are going to happen regardless of their legality (think marijuana and other illegal substances). The government has the opportunity to oversee & control (indirectly, anyways) a highly dangerous operation by allowing abortions.

I'm Pro-Choice.
I feel like it shouldn't be anyones business if you choose to get an abortion besides you, your family(if you choose to involve them) and the doctor (& the doctor from a strictly medical standpoint) and they should definitely be legal.

Eh, enough of that...to be back on topic...is there anyone else who sent the application for the first deadline & hasn't received confirmation yet?

Lolz I'm pro-choice all the way!

You should call if you want confirmation; it's the only way you're going to get it unless you sent a self addressed postcard with your application.

Yea, I feel the same way. Even though I went on the Walk and everything I didn't feel moved at all; I guess if you stand on one side of an issue so much you can't just go & see the other side (lol). I definetly was leaning toward pro-choice because of the whole "rape thing". But I definetly am waiting to get confirmation but I think I'll get it very late! I live in Boston, and everything always comes late here (grr!)

XiΞiX- did you get confirmation yet? You did say you applied in November.

@ Superwoman: Did you sen an evelope? I live a lot father away. And if you did you will get a letter in the envelope.

And I am pro-choice.
If the baby is going to die and kill the mother in the processthen you should have a choice to save your self. Go get a medical book and look at some of the morbid deformities that can happen then tell me that a woman should have to got through hours of painful labor to give birth to a child with no mouth and ears for hands that will die in a week. That may be blunt and cruel but it is true.
Also I am not saying abortions when you are giving birth (Third trimester) But before that like if you know something is wrong then yea you need a choice. When it gets to the point where a fetus is more a parasite then a healthy growing child then you need to have the option to get rid of it.
There are plenty of children that need adopting. The planet is over crowded as it is, forcing a woman to atribute is only going to make the problem worse and then you will have an un-loved miserable child on your hands.
Think of this: Your mother got pregant (doesn't matter how), and she wasn't ready to be a mother but she couldn't have an abortion and knew that many children get really messed up in the system so she kept you. Now your say 12 and she is never there and you practically raised your self. ect. Is it really worth it to make people have kids they don't want? This is how we get millionds of bi-polar, depressed, suicidal and generally messed up kids. A 3 week old fetus is not a child yet. Let it go and save the guilt, money and problems.

I definitely support the right to choose; but I'm in no way an advocate for abortion.

Yea, you'll see that is so true. Its still kinda wrong but its a womens choice that she will have to live with.
LamiaServatrix- I did send it in a big envelope including an evelope inside so I could receive the confirmation.

I sent an envelope too :/.
I suppose I'll call them tomorrow, thanks ..

Hummmmmmm. That is odd. That is exactly what I did.......Maybe you should call on monday then.

Yea, I'm calling too! Let me know what they tell you :)

@superwoman: exactly!

...but anywho, I'll probably call RBS on Tuesday to see if they received my application. I don't know why, but Tuesday strikes me as the best day to call...go figure.

hahaha, makes sense, hopefully if they see students calling it shows hopefulness! (lol) for us to be notified of our status! (lol)

It is really odd that they sent mine but you (who lives closer to them) haven't gotten yours. :/

Yay me! I just got it, doesn't really say much but happy I got a cofirmation! Hope others got theirs!

YAY for you!.
And I Second your sentiments

Updates!

So I emailed RBS this morning (had no school due to snow) and I just received an email back which said:

"We have received your application and it is being processed. We are only able to notify semifinalists and finalists in our competition, due to the number of applications received (more than 10,000 this year). Semifinalists will be notified in mid-February. We wish you all the best in the competition and your endeavors moving forward."

More than 10,000...omfg! In previous years it's been around 5,000 to 6,000. Any shred of hope I had of receiving this scholarship is now gone. :(

OMG!

I was really only expecting 5000... NOW IT'S DOUBLE THE COMPETITION! Wow. I don't plan on getting this scholarship any more. The good news is... at least it's not as important as getting into college. :)

Anyway, I just called and they received my application <3

Finally got a chance to call them.
They've got mine ..
That was easy :P.

Geez, scholarships are damn near impossible to get this year. Yikes.

i know!
but wow that like a 1/1000 chance of getting a scholarship.

Wow, well I stil have high (realistic hopes).
And there are always more.
