Rookie needs help starting the process

Hi. I'm a junior in hs in south Florida, white middle class male with parents who are both self-employed, commissioned salespeople. Things have been pretty tough lately financially for my folks & not sure how I'm going to pay for college. I have a 3.8gpa - should be higher but was pretty sick last year & it took a toll. I play golf & baseball but probably not scholarship caliber. Interested in pharmacy, medical, forensics and engineering. Any advice how to start navigating the process now so I can try & get as much aid as possible? Thanks.

Begin by going to FAFSA4caster - U.S. Department of Education. You can get an estimated EFC & find lots of great info about federal financial aid.

Start searching for scholarships. Fastweb.com is a good place to begin. Your high school guidance office will also be a great resource for local scholarships.

Apply to schools that you can afford, and throw in a financial reach or two if you want - as long as you understand that you might not be able to go if the financial aid doesn't work out.
