Room and housing info?

I just received the sheet and linen brochure. They say their beds are “extra long” : would someone actually know the real size ? Are these sheets impossible to find outside the BC bookstore, or is it more manageable than it looks like ? Just in case I’d prefer buying my sheets somewhere else.
Are those of you who bought them from the catalogue satisfied ?

Thaks for your answers =)

beds would be a "twin extra long"...very easy to find sheets for anywhere

Go to Bed, Bath and Beyond or Linens & Things. They have TwinXL in sheets, mattress covers, etc. The most important thing to get XL are the fitted sheets and mattress covers that are also fitted. Our kids have had comforters/mattress toppers, etc. that weren't XL and they worked just fine!

would you guys say its worth ordering from that magazine they send out? or just get the stuff on your own?

Bought my bed in a bag from Target for $19.99.

Don't buy anything from BC lol.

^ Amen. I got mine from Wal-Mart (what? I'm cheap.)

really really dont get it from BC.. you might as well be sleeping on stiff tissue paper cotton because theyre so uncomfortable. i guarentee you the cheapest stuff at walmart is better.

any twin extra longs will do. really easy to find during the summer cause of college kids. and make SURE to get a matress pad cause the beds of course suck

Ugh, thanks for your answers. You just saved me from paper-sheets.

Echo the mattress pad.

For me, I went and bought a foam pad (yeah, they're illegal. So what? It should be illegal how bad my back was hurting on those polyester bricks they call mattresses.). Plus, I bought a mattress pad. The combo was well worth it.

when they inspect rooms, do you know about it? because i assume that everyone would get written up or w/e for having mattress pads unless you have notice to hide them.

They don't check the bed.

Only obvious things like fire extinguisher, visible alcohol (if you're under 21), multiheaded lamps, the red tag on the window lol... just what's visible.

your allowed to have mattress pads just not the foam ones. i got one called "magic gel" and my pillows were made out of it. it was like $100 but after coupons got it for $60 and it was WEL worth it. i miss my BC bed

Beanieboo- whats wrong with having a mattress pad and memory foam pad for the bed, thats what my son is bringing, is there some weird rule against it? I dont understand the problem...

Bedding ( and others accessories like lamps) must met Boston's fire codes. Foam based products typically do not (burns hot and they release toxic fumes). Somewhere on the BC housing site are more specifics, I don't have the link handy.

So your son may be more comfortable, but he may also be endangering the rest of the dorm's residents... .

exactly what coldcase said.. its something about their firecodes. BC is apparently very proud about their fire codes. whole presentation about it in the beginning of freshman year. i cnat remember the exact rules but certain mattress pads and lamps arent allowed.

Thanks we will be at the orientation soon so we'll ask about it, I had no idea, I want to start shopping soon. I appreciate the information.
