I'm going to NY Unifieds this weekend and I was wondering when the schools gave us the number of the room that'll their audition will be in, so I'd know where to go. Or should I have gotten this already and there's been some kind of mistake? Or are you supposed to just go and look on the doors of the rooms to see what school is where? Thanks!

We only did one Unifieds school last year , and it was at Ripley-Grier (not Pearl), but the way it worked was the building had a security desk, and the staff there told us what floor to go to–once you’re up there, you’ll see signs telling you which schools we where, and there are lots of people around to help. Everything there was on the same floor. You wait outside the rooms, so it isn’t just like there are closed doors and empty halls. I was relieved by the low-key, friendly energy. Don’t feel awkward about asking somebody for help, since you’ll be on your own, right? --everyone’s in the same boat, or has been in the past. This is one worry you can let go of! just give yourself plenty of time. BAL!

Times3 is exactly right. This was our experience last year as well. The guard will send you upstairs and then there are desks with signs in front of every studio and people with clipboards to help, and everyone is quite friendly. Do try to get to each a few minutes early. Some will whisk you away to take a photo- I thinks UNCSA and CMU did this( still bring your own!), and everyone ran pretty much on time. The halls are crowded and noisy with benches for parents to sit on outside but parents can easily leave if that’s what your kiddo wants. Have fun- it really is an exciting experience! Oh, other threads have been discussing the melting snow and consequent mud puddles- they are for real! Bring old boots to slog around in and keep your audition footwear nice and clean :-)
