i got my housing app today! who knows a lot about the freshman dorm situation? from what i've figured out, the three choices are gilliam, BDG, and a few get stuck in gaines.
are there sub free halls in all the buildings?
are there both singles and doubles in all three buildings?
how many freshmen get singles?
and more importantly, what type of people are more likely to show up in dorm X / single rooms / sub-free halls? (for instance, my dad said lots of weird kids got singles back in the day... as i am considering a single, this was both vaguely insulting and paranoia-inducing.)

There are a lot of singles at W&L for freshmen and upperclassmen. People keep their doors open when they want to socialize and closed when they don't want to be disturbed.

BDG have sinks in the dorms. Graham-Lees is the biggest and thus the noisiest. I am convinced that GL has something nasty growing in the walls. According to my D, lot of kids have had chronic coughs, congestion, chest inflamation. She has never had as many ailments in her life as compared to this year

Gaines has AC which the traditional freshmen dorms do NOT have.

I lived on Baker 3rd and loooved it!!! I'd say BDG is the best, but GL ppl are loyal too! I really don't think you can go wrong with a freshman dorm @ w&l, unles you get stuck in gaines, which sounds nicer, but is kind of seperated from the other freshman.

Having a single at W&L is not "weird" like it was at my alma mater -- in fact, my S's freshman hall of 12 guys in GL has only ONE DOUBLE room. He has many friends in BDG who also love their halls/rooms.

I have concluded that no one chooses W&L bc of the fabulous freshman dorm space! That said, S has loved his dorm experience.

I must say, however, after cleaning his room yesterday (my "you had to stay on campus again for the second straight break" gift to him), that his living standards and mine are not the same . . . .

^^^^Cleaning a college kid room? Esquette is clearly a nicer mom than me! :) :)
