<p>I just sent in my SIR this evening and was trying to fill out the room-mate and housing preference forms, but I could not log in with the number they gave me or on the other option as I have no ID thing yet. Do I have to wait for it to process or what?</p>

<p>I don't think it matters, the contract is the same with or without the id. I'm pretty sure you have to submit it BY may 1st if you're a freshman. As a transfer I need to submit by june 1st</p>
<p>The I.D. you're talking about is probably a U-Mail account. The U-Mail account is created a few days AFTER you turn in your SIR. So, you'll have to wait a few days for UCSB to create the account, claim your identity, and voila, you can edit other information.</p>
<p>While you're waiting for that to activate, I suggest you do your residency stuff, well, if you're a California resident.</p>

<p>You CAN (there's an option "if you don't have a umail id..."). But you might just want to wait until they activate your account to be safe. However the application is the same with or without an id.</p>
<p>i tried the if you dont have a umail id, but it said it could not be validated right now...maybe ill just wait</p>
