i found out that my two roommates are best friends from HS and i was really against being in that situation. Is it possible to change seeing as how there are a lot of errors right now....meaning the change will seem normal and not like i dont want to live with these people.

yeah i only got the name of one of my suitemates too... odd.

folks you arent going to be able to change until winter quarter

Simple: What's so wrong about calling them? I called both of mine and it was nice, not too awkward. If it starts getting quiet, ask for their SN and say you'll talk to them online. Chances are, they're anxious to know who their roomies are anyway.

anyone in de neve dogwood 4th floor this year?

fastmed, what floor of rieber terrace are you on?

chanX i tried that reverse phone number thing and the name didn't match my roommate's name lol

mr numerical guy,

I'm a MAN, and I'm down on the second floor. I figure the odds are some people here have to be roomies of mine, 9 people!

oh and thanks for fielding my question, blasted air conditioner. I knew I had remembered someone giving out some good feedback on singles.

6th, are you in terrace too?

i'm in terrace too, 8th floor
did anyone else try to call their roommates and the number was disconnected or something like that? like the operator message came on as if the number was wrong? that happened to me for one of my roommates and one of my suitemates and i really want to be able to contact them! why didn't they give us e-mails??
also, doesn't anyone else remember uploading a picture for roommate assignments? for some reason i remember doing that. i thought we would see a picture of our roommates but i'm sure that's never going to happen because they don't even tell us last names!

Tip for finding your roommate:

Type your roommate's first name into the search bar at http://www.directory.ucla.edu/search.php

Scroll down til you find a person whose phone number matches the number Housing released to you. This way, you could get a full name (for facebook), and possibly an email address too.

Note: This won't work if your roommate de-listed his/her number from the UCLA directory.

Wow, my suitemate is a junior...

Bruin2011: Did you call your roomie with your house phone or your cell phone? The same happened with one of my roomie's numbers when I used my home phone. My cell phone went through, though. Perhaps their phone is blocking private numbers?

You know what helps a little? If your roomate has an uncommon name (or a slightly unique name), facebook search. Then look at the area code of the phone number, determine the geographic region, and search within the profiles. Yes, a bit stalkerish, but worth your try.

This would only work probably less tahn 20% of the time, but it is better than nothing.

Man...I searched through every facebook profile, used the white pages, called...no avail. Her number's totally disconnected.

bruin, you're on my floor. i'm sure we'll meet. PM me if you wanna know the approximate location

what's a pm? haha, i dunno if that's going to be a stupid question or not
what year are u going into?

if u find a person in the directory, does that mean that they are not a freshman? or does that just mean that they don't have their number in the directory? Because i typed my own name in and i didn't show up haha so i'm just wondering

PM is a private message (click my name, then go to send private message).

i'm a 2nd year

I will be in De Neve... Dogwood.

OK not really... I just have a good number of friends living there.
