Are incoming freshmen supposed to choose a roommate before going in? And if they don’t then they are randomly assigned someone? Or how does it work exactly…? Before my sister started at UCI she filled out a questionnaire about her likes, dislikes, things about her to help match her with someone; does Davis do that too?

Ahh I’m really excited for Davis! The days cannot go by faster! Maybe I’ll meet someone at orientation who I’ll want to dorm with :D

Yes, i believe you do the same thing.

When you sign up for housing, you fill out a survey. If you’ve found a roommate beforehand, you guys can both request each other. Otherwise you opt for a random roommate :)

I don’t think there is a survey…other than what dorm area you want… or single/double/triple. I remember asking baout this for my D—too many students to do that computer match thing I guess?
The whole thing is pretty random. Though you can pick a roommate…maybe someone you will meet at orientation?
My D’s roommate was nice…but never was her best friend. So my D spent most of her time in the lounge area and met tons of kids who have remained her closest friends at UCD. It all works out!

Check out FB for your incoming class - last year someone set up an informal survey for people to meet/find potential roommates. D is finishing her freshman year at UCD and found her roommate that way. They get along well enough to be roomies again off campus next year.

When do housing forms/requests come in? Will we get something by email or in the mail regarding to that?

@dcfangirl-
I’m a transfer, and we haven’t received our offers yet (once we do, I believe that’s when we answer the questions). I don’t know if all freshmen have received their offers up to this point.

Ohh okay. Thank you everyone! I think I may just see who I meet at orientation :)
