<p>Yes, you can request that, and you do request that (I'm fairly certain) when you make your housing selection. I didn't request a roommate assignment last year so it's all sort of a blur. But, when you get your admissions packet, and if you check out the UVA housing site, it's all spelled out clearly. Though they are making some changes to the housing system this year, I truly doubt they'll eliminate selecting your own roommate.
I seem to remember that we had to select our dorms in early June, and we heard where we got in early July, moved-in in late August.</p>

<p>Thanks powderpuff. I read about the housing change being based on program selection earlier this week. My preference was old dorms because I thought living on a hall would help me meet more people than suite style. Don't understand how that translates into a program. It also complicates the roomate thing because we would have to agree on the same program.</p>
<p>Old Dorms or New Dorms seems so much easier.</p>

<p>Well for Brown you would both have to apply, but then on your housing app if you request to be together and only one of you gets in then you'll both live somewhere else (you rank your preferences so it would be your #2 preference).</p>
<p>it won't really be that different for you and your future roommate since if you're like 95% of all the other first years you'll be selecting "First-year housing" as your top option.</p>
<p>If you both want hall, then request that program. But if you guys want something different, I'm not sure how it will work out.
The housing for next year I'm sure is still being planned, and the kinks are being removed one by one, so things may change before May 1st when info is released. Keep checking the housing webpage (google uva housing) and watch the page to get the best info.</p>
