roomate stealing?

<p>i think my roomate stole money from me ($40 to be exact). that money was supposed to be for one of my brother's christmas presents. i dont know for a fact that she did it, all i know is that a couple of days ago that money was split between a purse and my wallet (20$ in each), and now its gone.</p>

<p>how do i find out if she did it or not? i dont like feeling untru****l of my roomate, i just want to know if she did it.</p>

<p>also, her boyfriend is over this weekend(he just came last night after my money was stolen, so i know he didnt do it), which ****es me off because i have finals next week. so i'm sexiled and have so much stuff to study for. way to add insult to injury....</p>

<p>first, ask your roomate nicely if she did it or not. If you she did not admit it, then report the problem to your RA. Good Luck!</p>

<p>How was the relationship with your roommate prior to the missing funds? It doesn't sound like it was friendly enough for you to just talk to her.</p>

<p>Anytime something comes up missing, it should be communicated immediately. "Hey roomie, some money has disappeared. Do you have any idea where it might be?" ... or something like that.</p>

<p>Also, are there other people running in and out of the room who could have grabbed it? Is your roommate bringing people in when you're not around?</p>

<p>You dont find that unethical? I would be really angry if my roommate, someone you should be able to trust, set up a camera in the room (where you're supposed to have privacy) without notice</p>

<p>If I were you, I would (without your roomate noticing) place a $5 bill on your desk (or any amount that it wouldn't kill you to lose) before you go to the shower. Come back 15 or so minutes later, and see if it's still there. If it isn't, ask your roomate in a nice way what happened to it. "hey, i had a $5 bill on my desk right before I went to the shower, and it's not there anymore. any clue as to what might have happened to it"?</p>

<p>or attach the money to a hook from a fishing pole and reel it in when she tries to grab it.....</p>
