I was assigned a single at Dickson. Did I get lucky, or am I in for it? Can anyone offfer some insight?

in for it?

your room might be a bit on the small side, but that’s not awful. I think having a single is really nice. Dickson has lots of residents, and it’s close to both dining halls and central campus.

Were you looking for a single?

I’ve heard single’s are great for their privacy and better sleep at night^^

You are lucky. The singles are big compared to the other singles available on North. Dickson is great because its balances social life with privacy. It’s mostly singles so you will find friends as everyone needs to venture outside to bond and still, you’ll be able to have your own space. Enjoy it.

Dickson is the largest dorm in the entire ivy league. It’ll be a nice way to meet tons of people quickly. It’s kind’ve in the center of North, closest to both dining halls, etc. The inside looks like a kindergarten school in a funny way.

All in all, yes, you lucked out. A single?! In a regular dorm?! Awesome. You could be in hasbrouck, the townhouses, or even…dare i say it…skylar (it’s so far you’ll cry).

Schuyler House isn’t for first-year housing.

Neither was Hasbrouck. You also shouldn’t get stuck with any transfer students as roommates, but you probably will. The freshman are way overenrolled, and there’s going to be plenty of odd assignments about. I know transfers will get placed in Schuyler like they do every year. Hopefully freshman won’t. There was a whole debate against increasing the freshman enrollment cap, in part because there’s few places to house everyone. Doubles have turned into triples in some of the new dorms, etc.
