Rooming in a Quad

For those of you who know about it or have done it before, what is it like? What are some tips or experiences you've had?

I got put in a quad for next year!

I’m sorry.

Im in the same boat as you dude… God help us all

I think one big deciding factor would be whether it was a forced quad or a normal quad. If it was designed to be a triple and they shoved a fourth roommate in there, it’ll probably be pretty cramped.

Other than that, the big problem with more roommates is an increased likelihood of losing the roommate lottery. It’s not unlikely to find one roommate that you get along with well, but for that to happen three times over…

If you aren’t a freshman it might be ok…
I had a triple and 2 of the roommates had boyfriends and only chose the room because it was cheap. They never came home LOL I had a 1 bedrooma partment to myself for a semester.

well… I am a freshman uyulove, but my school boards say its OK and I will adjust

well if you are freshman they are all going to be in there for awhile so it might get crowded. But my brother had a triple his freshman year and they all moved out lol as well and he had a single for awhile…

It’s awesome. You make friends. /End.

Its not a forced triple or anything, it is what they call a converted lounge, where its a 26x22 room with each person in a corner, so it should be pretty big! Its got a kitchenette and fridge, and a 10x5 foyer leading into it.

So by the sound of it, its big enough, but I dont know how having 4 people in a room will be. And for the record, I am an incoming freshman

Quad’s are the best, in my opinion.

I was in one my freshman year. Quad’s are the party rooms if you’re straight like that.

bump 10 char

I am a studious person who stays in, never sees the light of day and sleeps with his textbook - needless to say im no party person. Its an engineering quad so how much partying could they do.

Two of my closest friends are engineers (One is Civil or Aerospace I believe, the other is mechanical and possibly gonna minor in neuroscience), and they both party hard, and both have great grades. One was disappointed in a B even though he managed to party all semester straight and still get As in his other classes.

So yes, it IS definitely doable, you just have to be prepared to buckle down and get your work done. And partying doesn’t just mean going to the row, it can be having a few friends over, or going to someone elses small bash, but the point of a party is to meet more people, isn’t that (along with an education) what you came to school for?

I’m not saying lose yourself in partying, but don’t even joke around about being the type of person that’s not gonnna leave and constantly be hushing your other roommates. There were many people like that, and while it is understandable to be shy, you wouldn’t realize how aggravated your roommates can get with someone who is always there in case they wanna do something like walk around naked to get their clothes or something even simpler.

I lived in a 2-room quad my freshman year. When we arrived, it was set up with all the beds in one room and all the desks and chairs in the other. We switched it up so it was 2 people per room (the people in the front room got the sucky end of the deal since people had to walk through their room to get to the back room).

It was awesome but a LOT of living in a quad (living in any room, really, but a quad moreso) depends on your roommates. If they’re awesome, you’ll have the time of their life. If they drive you nuts, you’ll want to kill yourself.

sweeeeeeeeeeeeet

I don’t know dude, I go to Georgia Tech (lots of engineers) and still managed to get pretty wasted and go to the hospital once.

Thanks hyakku, that was great advice. I am a studious person, but I have tried to be more outgoing. The problem is I don’t like doing that stuff on a weekday. College is going to be hard - that is a definite - my parents and I worry a lot with my expectations to move forward to a bright future, while many times I struggle to do well.

Oh well, the more important thing is that I will learn and develop - thats the point of college I guess.

i’ll be in a quad too…but at least my roommates sound nice so far.

When I visited schools, quads don’t seem that bad at all. I liked quads. There is a lot of room and you have more people in your room.
