rooming

Is it beneficial to apply for housing like now or can I wait until like feb or march? Does it make it more likely that I will get the dorm/location i want if i apply soon?

Probably. My mom waited until the last minute to send in her housing stuff and she got stuck in this crazy russian dorm where people had to take turns to make lunch for EVERYONE and do EVERYONE’S laundry.

A.K.A. She procrastinated and got stuck with the commies.

My freshman year I waited until the last minute to apply for housing and I got a dorm room at Couzens which is central campus but the hill area to the NE. The quads are a lot closer to campus but the hill wasn’t bad. I don’t think I would have liked living in Markley (which is past the hill next to the medical campus) because it is a gigantic dorm on the outskirts of central campus. The way the inside is designed makes Markley seem like a prison, but it did have a huge social community because of how big the dorm was.

As far as I see it, hill and quads have their own advantages and disadvantages if you’re looking to live on central campus. I waited and managed to get a central campus dorm, but I know many people who weren’t as lucky and were stuck on north campus. Also, being late to apply for housing, I had the privilege of living right next door to the dorm’s DPS office (state police) which was awful for obvious reasons. Basically if you don’t want to get stuck on north I would apply sooner rather than later.

Also I don’t think north quad is going to be finished for the Fall but Mojo was just remodeled so at this point it is probably the nicest dorm to live in.
